How long should you keep Facebook messages?

Sometimes I will archive my Facebook messages from friends but usually don't keep them more than a day or two. How long should Facebook messages be kept?

Facebook messages from friends can usually be archived after a few days so it gives you more space for newer messages. Though you might have trouble finding an important phone number or contact information in archived Facebook private message.

I don't have time to do such things on Facebook nowadays for I'm that type of person that rarely chat. So, having to check up on those things is not for me for now.

I remember the time when Yahoo and Hotmail have a limit of storage such that you have to delete some of the emails so the new ones can come into the inbox. But then that limitation to storage was removed so the unlimited storage affords us not to delete any of the emails. The same with Facebook, I don’t think there is a limit to the amount of messages so for the sake of posterity, why delete it? Just let it be.
