    Google is no respecter of any site. it does not favour any site. it all depends on how well you try to rank your site high. if your SEO promotional methods are organic and real, you will surely get ranked with time. no favoritism. you get what you work for.

    Do you think that Google is really impartial when it comes to who is listed for big search terms? Does Google play favorites?

    I've always believed that Google plays favorites with it's own sites such as Blogger, Flickr and Google sites. I don't know if this is true and most people deny that it is. However, I have ranked some pages on Google sites very easily. Maybe that was related to content on the page but I always thought the pages ranked due to the site being related or owned by Google What do you think?

    I don't think this relates to favorites so much as on page optimization factors. Google sites are naturally optimized and easy to crawl for Google. Where as, many sites not owned by Google (but owned independently by webmasters) have big SEO mistakes such as poor navigational menus that discourage Google bot from crawling the page.

    these sites that they patronize are big time sites that has been there for a very long time and have gained strong recognition and authority from the public online. also those sites produce unique content and real information useful to everyone. sites like wikipaedia. so generally, i dont think google play favorites to any sites. but from what hunter said, it is something serious to consider.

    No I dont think so. There is no way to do partial to anything as it will reduce the reputation of Google itself.

    We can always speculate and suspect something sinister not only with Google but with other search engines as well. That is the mystery of the algorithm. It is a secret so that the public will be left to their imagination. Isn’t that wonderful that we do not know the exact way of producing the search list? What if we do? Everyone will be doing what needs to be done to be on the top spot of the search list, right?
