    Duplicate content issues with an ebook

    Is it possible to encounter duplicate content issues when publishing an ebook (pdf format) online?

    These ebooks are often indexed by Google. Maybe the content could be considered duplicate if taken from other sources. What do you think about that?

    I don't think Google will really care if the content is published in an ebook and on your website. Maybe it's not so uncommon for this to happen, especially if you are the one who wrote the ebook and own the site. It might be an issue if you stole the info for your own site from an ebook and then republished on your own site. That would not just be duplicate content so much as digital theft.

    I don't think this is going to be marked as duplicated. I have seen many people doing it. Think about a NEWS website. Will it be possible to have the same news on thousands of websites and what will happen if everybody rewrite it! Duplicate content issues with an ebook

    Lots of news content is syndicated online. I don't think these sites and pages that have syndicated content, rank well for those pages, but possibly there is no penalty for syndicating news or press releases.

    if that pages of that ebook not index it by some way then no problem to get the content duplicated to your site but if already indexed your site maybe will not rank well

    If you are selling an ebook, its better if Google does not index your ebook. Otherwise people will get the ebook for free without even buying it.

    yes pdf is indexable also links are counted from it so duplicate content issue can a problem..

    I can speak for amazon. If the content of the ebook you are trying to publish on Amazon is already available on the internet, you cannot publish it. Amazon might even penalize you by blocking your account.

    Well,I don't advocate for copied content because it almost like stealing one's sweat, having said that I think Google might not be penalised an ebook for copied content, since it not really published on the net, is to be sold out to people but the site one would want to penalize such content if it flagged copied content and such an account might be at risk.
