Google is tricky with Adsense

Google insists that webmasters not make the Adsense look too much like site content or site navigation, meaning you can't trick someone into thinking the ads are content or part of the site. So you have to distinguish the ads in some way or label them as ads.

But, look at the search results on Google search and you will see the ads there nearly look like search results. So Google is tricking the search engine user into clicking ads. Yet, they won't allow a blogger to do anything similar.

Google allows themselves free license to do whatever they want, but insists that webmasters adhere to another policy. Supposedly, they are just concerned about wasting the advertiser's dollars. But if that's true, then how come they try to trick search engine users so blatantly?

They try to inflate an Adwords campaign cost so you are forced to increase your budget. They did it with me plus disqualifying my ads that were exactly the same as my competitors selling the same product, but I refused to pay more, so they dropped mine. They get sleazier every year.

Whenever I see an ad result that comes up in search that I'm actually interested in, I will manually copy the url into a new browser window to visit the website rather than click through the ad itself, so as to not give Google any ad revenue from my click. They don't deserve the support of webmasters they seem to like screwing around.

Google will tell you to do one thing or risk being banned from Adwords or Adsense but then break their own rules. And, if you complain it does no good. Just don't click on the ads is all I can say. Then they can't earn.

Google can do anything with its product because it is the boss. Therefore, it is very normal to see ads when you do a Google search. The ads that appear when you do Google search is the paid search listing. This is how Google places advertisements and makes money. Interestingly, Google wants website owners to make a distinction between content and ads. If you mask ads as contents, you will be banned.

If you mean the comparison of the Adsense ads on your site against the ads on Google’s search list, I guess Google has the right to do what it wants. I agree that sometimes you can be tricked somehow into clicking on the ads but that is a small matter to me. As long as your site is monetized and you earn no matter how small then that is just fine. What I don’t agree with is when Adsense cut down to 50% the revenue sharing on their ads. Users like me are hurt.
