In your own experience, what's been the highest paying (best ctr with highest payout) for Adsense?

From what I've seen, 300 x 250 give average clicks but high cpc. That's been true for some of my blogs. Also, it depends on your blog niche and placement of the ad units on the page.

Size of an ad is irrelevant for CPC. Big square and big leaderboard perform the best for most websites.

I don't think size of an advertisement matters vis a viz earnings. If you place the ad units on the right spot (in the middle of the content, on the header etc.), your ads will get a better exposure, and hence possibility of ads clicks. How much you will earn from a click depends on the location of your traffic and the niche of the ad. You earn more from ads on business and investment than ads on entertainment niche.
