It depends on the magnitude of research. For a hard topic to tackle like rocket science or calculus, it would take hours, maybe 4 to 10 hours of research. That long because you have to understand what you are researching and you cannot write a good article when you don't fully understand the subject matter. But for a simpler topic like an online business, maybe an hour of research is already a long time. But then again, you have to fully understand the subject matter so you can make the flow of the article smooth and easy to read.

Researching an article depends solely on the type of project you're handling and the progress you're making.If what you 're researching about hasn't been written already,then it would take a longer time because you'll need input from books offline,email people that you feel can help and also trying to get expert in the field to share their knowledge with you.So it much work when it a virgin topic than when you have materials already.So the time frame varies.
