Finding an authoritative site of first publication

I don't rely on opinion sources such as blogs unless they are from an official source such as Google or Yahoo News. These authoritative blogs are usually a source of first published news and fairly reliable as a resource. Many times, blogs will simply republish the news or excerpt information from an original source and rewrite the story or spin it in a new way. So it's always good to find the first source of publication when researching.

The big name news sites are more likely to have unbiased comprehensive coverage of industry news events, more so than secondary blogs that rehash the news.

When I am researching, my pasture are the news network websites or the respectable sites of the niche. Take for example the mixed martial arts field, writing about it is not easy since you also need names and events. What I do is check out the most popular league which is the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) and from there I could get names and fight records of fighters. That’s a lot of information that I can write about.
