When quoting a source online, what is the proper citation format to use, especially when referring to an offline book or online website/page?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

To me, its always more authoritative to cite a published book, rather than an article online. However, there are also many scholarly treatises and texts online that were written by professors, which make ideal resource material and can be confidently cited in your paper.
