How do you cover the cost of health insurance as a freelancer?

With regular employment, you are likely to b e covered by health insurance from your employer at affordable group rates. But, as a freelancer, you won't have this option. So, mostly you will be stuck covering your own health insurance and medical bills. Though freelancing provides a great opportunity for earning income, there are some drawbacks such as having to entirely cover the cost of health insurance which will be more if you are not associated with a large organization that is getting group rates. How are you handling this?

As a self employed person, you are also self insured, meaning you have to foot the cost of your own medical insurance. You might be able to get coverage from your spouse or partner's insurance, if your situation allows. But, other than that, you will cover the costs for yourself.

I wish, actually, without bringing political discourse in to this forum, in many states of the US now you can get Medicaid depending on if or how much of your freelance income you claim,and their is no means testing., meaning , you can have a million dollars in the bank but if you produce no income, you can get it.

I wish, actually, without bringing political discourse in to this forum, in many states of the US now you can get Medicaid depending on if or how much of your freelance income you claim,and their is no means testing., meaning , you can have a million dollars in the bank but if you produce no income, you can get it.

For many Medicaid is a last resort. Nobody on Medicaid has a million dollars in the bank or they would not settle for the substandard care provided by the program.

I have a full time job so I don't need to worry about health insurance. I get it from my employer.
