    Even if you don't price per hour

    Even if you don't price per hour, do you at least anticipate how many total hours a job will take and then price accordingly? So for instance, if a job will take four hours, then you would times the amount of money you need per hour to work by the number of hours it would take.

    I usually don't think of hours when I am pricing something. Sometimes I feel that that would make the cost more and I am not sure if someone is willing to pay that.

    If you're charging $5.00 for a service that takes 5 hours to complete, then you are being paid $1.00 an hour. And, very few people can live on such low wages. You have to think of how long a job will take or you will perpetually be working to dig yourself out of a financial hole.

    If you're charging $5.00 for a service that takes 5 hours to complete, then you are being paid $1.00 an hour. And, very few people can live on such low wages. You have to think of how long a job will take or you will perpetually be working to dig yourself out of a financial hole.


    Also, some clients might insist that you perform the job very slowly and thus it would end up costing you more of your time which could be put on higher paying projects. For those situations you should be allowed to charge more money just for working slow as it reduces your per hour income.

    It's extremely difficult to monetize something like this on a micro job site, and unfortunately because of that individuals lose out on the bigger picture. Buyers on these types of sites, aren't willing to pay per hour because they expect writing services between $1-$10, and there are quite a few people who aren't even willing to pay the higher end on that small scale...

    That's true for forum posting but the opposite for articles. Whenever I'm posting on forums, it's normal to spread out posts over a week or month and I price accordingly knowing this is going to happen. And, maybe that's the type of jobs you are talking about too.

    When I'm hired to write an article, they want it finished now. At least, that's been my experience when being paid to write articles, the faster the better as most times the person is on a deadline.

    It is hard to judge sometimes how long a job will take. It might seem really easy but then take you a long time to complete. I do feel that you need to plan accordingly though so you are being paid fairly.
