What's your biggest distraction from work?

What's your biggest distraction when completing a gig or on the job? For instance, do you find that emails or Facebook take time away from gig work?

For me, the biggest distractions from work are Runescape and Skype. If I have either one up, people try to talk to me. And, then i have to take time to speak to them and that takes away time from my paying gigs. So I don't bother logging into Runescape or Skype until after all my gigs are completed for the day. And, that helps me get work done a lot quicker. So much easier to focus on work and get it done than trying to split my attention between three or four things.

A friend of mine who is a nanny always loves playing Facebook games on her Blackberry while on the job. But she only did that while the toddler was sleeping. This could be a really fun distraction.

What are some of the good/bad distractions that take you away from your job or gigs. How do you cope with distractions so you can get your gigs completed on time?

For me it would definitely have to be Facebook or Trillian. If I have any of these open I always find myself moving away from what I should be focusing on and doing something else rather than concentrating on what I should be.

I'm really getting sick of the friends Facebook drama. I don't mind using Facebook for a fan page. But right now, I'm feeling so alienated from all the people I used to know on Facebook. Feels like they are a big distraction. Just want to focus on my work and family more than Facebook now. Feels like the right thing to do.

I get distracted by shopping online for clothes and other stuff. I love to shop.

Sometimes, I am distracted by house cleaning or caring for my cats as they consume much of my spare time. I don't like taking time off work, but either activity is a nice diversion.

I get distracted by shopping online for clothes and other stuff. I love to shop.

I think some people get bored and mouthy on Facebook and don't realize the world is listening to their gripes and they just say things that are best left unsaid. And yes, that causes unnecessary drama, especially when they make personal affairs public.

I am not much into Facebook so it doesn't interfere with my job. The biggest distraction I see are phone calls, mostly personal who needs my advice on their problems. It's not easy to decline the call because they would text and text to say they need to talk to me. What I do lately is to shut off my phone when I am working so I could focus on what I am doing.

Facebook chats and finding keep me a bit from working in the mornings.I chat a lot with my friends and families a lot.I wish the pay users for using facebook I would have made a fortune.This social platform can be very distracting I must say.

Facebook is not a distraction for me. In fact facebook offers me a break. After working for hours, I get bored and I go to facebook. After interacting on facebook for a while, I feel fresh and creative.
For me greatest distraction is unwanted guests. I work from home and for many people working from home is not a real job. When I refuse to attend people during my working hours, they say I am becoming insolent. I have not stopped giving attention what people say about me.
