    Help with wordpress website load times

    Alright so I have built a site on wordpress and the load times are not the greatest. When using the Google page speed insights my score for mobile is 56 and for desktop is 70.

    The first red warning (should fix) is 'Reduce server response time'. Could this have something to do with the hosting. I have already improved my load times dramatically by adding code to the .htaccess file to utilize browser caching. Also installed the plugin W3 toatal cache. Worked like a charm and improved my scores by double. It was BAD before taking these steps.

    My performance grade on Pingdom is 94/100 which is pretty good compared to my competitor whoms score is 71/100 and score in google page speed is like 21 on mobile and desktop. But his website load time in like 2 secs. I just don't understand. The only thing i can think of is hosting maybe. I literally just started designing websites 4 months ago. Studied SEO for a couple of years because it seemed like that was the wisest thing to do, as there is really no point to building a website and then going back to optimize everything.

    If anyone has got any tips or can help out a little, please do. I am so "wet behind the ears" my neck is condensating, so please help if you can.

    Forgot to mention my websites load time is averaging like 7-8 seconds Help with wordpress website load times 50% is due to loading the html files. I noticed my competitor is only using 8% load time towards html.

    Thanks for the answer, although it wasn't very thorough. I have already reduced my images in photoshop, wp Smush.it, Ewww image optimizer, and jpegtran. My images average 5-10 kb, so trust me it's not the images.

    It will be more clear if u share ur URL here.

    It is just the guess that may be ur server response time(Connection time of first byte) creating problem.

    Use cache plugin, remove unwanted plugins, clear image information unwanted just keep alt text, use a cdn and you will see your score above 80 easily.

    Since you are using wordpress, they offer fast cache free plug ins, go to plugins, new, and do a search for fast cache. Any plugins you don't really need, delete them. It helps. And also, who's your hosting? they may be a big company but they don't use fast servers. I use tmdhosting they have new installed fast servers, i have two sites that use videos, like customers load many videos, and it's fast. I can load a youtube video for example on my site, and it works better on mine then youtube. I needed a fast server, and didn't want all the hassles of being charged at home through my internet connection, running it myself, and I found these guys. I opted for once a yr., payment, instead of monthly and i like the fastness, of my sites, even the wordpress one, but delete unnecessary plugins not using, will help with wordpress.

    website speed is depend on your hosting , make sure your server configuration is good if your server is fast definitely your web works fine and fast

    Website loading speed is also related to your server speed, However, you can improve loading speed by using various plugins. For instance, you can use cache plugin and image optimizing plugins. These plugins will help your website to load faster. Try to keep your webpage size to less than 3 MB by having small dimension images and few images.
