    How to check for original content of forum posts or articles

    If you are a forum owner, you may want to check the originality of any articles posted on your forum as they could be copied from other sites.

    To check for duplicate content, excerpt a short line or phrase from the content and run it through Google Search.

    If the content is found on any other website or blog, it should show up on Google search.

    Just be sure the phrase is unique enough and not too long, such as 7-10 words in length.

    There are also other free tools such as Siteliner and Copyscape which will scan your pages for duplicate content.

    I agree, I am running a forum but I don't have articles as I don't have a blog with this site so that doesn't worry me but copyrighted tutorials and such I do look out for very carefully as well as graphics.

    This is very helpful, however my latest encounter I didn't need to run it through Google...

    I had recently came across a new member on my forum, and I noticed every post she made was a copy and paste of my previous ones. I have given her warning, and advised her to post her own original content, and not to copy and paste. The next time she does this, she will get banned.

    cant i directly check the originality of content without uploading it to a website....if yes then please reply

    You need to monitor your site content carefully to ensure that others are not merely copying and pasting content from other forums into the new threads. If you don't watch out, then some post builders will quickly come by and dominate your site threads and then leave links. This happens when people are building forum accounts quickly.

    Gee, this is a very helpful tip for forum owners and admins as well. I never thought of that although now I realize that it is logical to search for a sentence using the search engine. And if that sentence appears in another site then you can cross check which is which of the content is plagiarized, yours of that of the other site’s. Now it sinks to me that we can even search for a line of a song that we are trying to recall the title. Okay, I have tried it and it’s effective – I got the title of the song that’s on my mind.
