Members posting articles rather than discussions

Do you encourage your forum members to post actual articles (wiki style) or do you prefer threads which ask questions to stimulate discussion?

You could have a section for tutorials on your forum where such articles could be published. These Wikis will provide very good evergreen content that helps your site rank for keywords. The articles will also act as a database of knowledge for others who are seeking answers related to your forum's niche.

I don't see any reason why your forum members should be discouraged from submitting articles as this will add to the content on your forum. Any longer content is beneficial for SEO.

For me, any kind of content is welcome as long as it has substance. I actually prefer a longer post than a short one that stimulates discussion for a question of a thread is not an assurance of multiple replies. A long post is big content already and also has the potential of getting responses.
