Was your forum ever brought down by sabotage?

Was there ever a time when you found a forum spy in your membership, such as someone from another competing forum? Was your forum ever undermined or sabotaged by another forum owner and their staff? How can you prevent such things from happening?

You can't stop competitors from registering on your forum, especially if they do so covertly, such as with usernames you don't recognize. The only thing you can do is to keep your forum strong and active and simply give your forum members more reasons to stay.

It's possible a competitor could cause serious damage to your forum just by registering and stealing members off your forum. But if your forum is a fun place to be and members feel welcome, they are not likely to leave.
