What's your forum's magic number?

Is there a magic number for forum members that you need to make your forum a success? Such as how many actively posting members do you need on site daily posting to keep your forum going?

A forum can look active with only a few people talking all at once or very inactive even with 100 members, if those people rarely post.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

My forum was never very large, but we always had the most active conversations, even with just five or ten people on forum at the same time. It always seemed very busy with talking back and forth between members.

I do think that it's not a numbers game but the degree of interaction between members is what is important.
