    Does Changing Post Title Affect SEO?

    The title is a very important aspect a post.
    If a blog or website get posts that are ranking quite well in the search engines but the titles are a bit odd, I was wondering if it will hurt the SEO if I change the title completely? I mean I will leave the targeted keywords and structure in it but it will be different.

    Changing the title after a few weeks will probably affect your on page search engine optimization. But there are good and bad things that come with editing your titles.


    The Good:
    You can change the structure of your title and actually get two keywords in there, just make sure the title still make sense and it's not just "Keyword keyword keyword keyword" because it will just look like spam. Google wants your content to be readable by your visitors and will grant you higher rankings in their search results if you do so. You should treat your titles the same way, the better they are structured and readable, the better your rankings will become. Now changing your titles day after day will only keep your rankings down since Google will have to keep coming back and respidering your pages for their search results. Figure out the best title and keep it because it will give you a huge benefit after you do your off page SEO campaign.


    The Bad:
    You could have what you think is the best title in the world but all your visitors and search engines absolutely hate it. You'll need to write up a few titles, with your keywords in them, and figure out what would work best by reading them out loud and thinking what sounds best. There's no real way to split test this since you'll be doing on page optimization and it would take a few months to do this. By the time you're done split testing you could have been on the first page making money already.     If you're ranking really well for specific keyword/phrases for that page, I would not be changing too much about the title/description. If it's not broken, why fix it? You might try an experiment on a less important page title to see what happens, whether or not your change to the title makes it drop in search or actually helps. I can understand your wanting to spruce up those titles to make them more attractive, so you have better click through rates, as a good title will entice more people than one that is poorly written (even if that one is ranking). For minor grammar changes, it shouldn't affect your page ranking too much, but an overhaul likely would.

    I agree with your premise that if the page is ranking good then why change it? Maybe you have to monitor the traffic of that particular page before you change the title and do regular monitoring activity again after changing the title so you would know which title is better in terms of ranking and traffic. Being haphazard in altering parts of the web page is not a good move.

    The title matters a great deal, both for search engines, as well as for the readers. Before deciding on a title it is important to strike the right balance between readability and seo friendliness. If your post has been published for a while with a particular title, and you either do not like the title that much, or the post is not ranking that well, then I would try to edit the title so as to make an improvement hopefully. However if you are happy wuth the ranking I would suggest leaving the title as it is as a significant change could lead to a change in ranking.

    Hi Yes I agree the title is very important aspect of post beside, it is very good for SEO aspect too. And I usually use one or two keywords in title tag. But I do not think it is good for change keyword Frequently in title tag. It may affect for your SEO result. Better is if you want to add any new keywords, create a fresh content and use new title and key tag on new page. It should help very much rather change title tag which already good position on Google or other search engine. But eventually If you think you did not add correct title on that, you could edit little bit.

    having a great title is one of the on-page SEO tactics. If your content does not have a great title or do not contain your focus keywords, you should change your title. When you change your title, use keywords and keyphrase. If you can, use a long tail search term as your title. If possible, you also have to change the URL. Use your focus keywords on your url and avoid using stop words.
