One of my clients has a competitor who is doing very well in Google (top 3 rankings in a fairly competitive niche), very quickly (in less than 2 weeks), by cloning the old penalised site (which was penalised in the last Penguin update and lost all rankings completely), and 301 redirecting it to a freshly registered domain.
My client wants me to implement the same for him (my client also has a site which was ranking well previously but lost rankings over the last 5-6 months, and has been proving difficult to move up). Before I proceed to do this, I want to be sure that I will be doing it correctly.
