    You do not need a separate blog to improve the ranking of your website. You can optimize your website and improve search engine ranking. However, if you want to publish contents on different niche (different from your website contents), you can do blogging. Since the blog will be a part of your main website, you can drive traffic on your blog to your main site. You can also blog regularly and add fresh contents to your website.

    All the optimizing in the world is not going to help a static 10- to 20-page website rank if the competition has a larger and more active website. Size does matter. Everything else being equal, the website with more content pages will always receive a better ranking and more traffic from organic search. A blog is one method of creating a large website and showing yourself as active.

    If your website has a blog that means you have readers, right? And if you have readers then you need to upload fresh contents regularly so there will be something to read otherwise your readers will leave your site. And if that’s the case, the search engine will just be happy with your website because the contents is the primary factor for the search engines.
