    Did you register your site to google webmaster? if yes, you should check backlinks from there. . or try use majesticseo. since yahoo explorer shut down their service, i dont think there any good software/ site online to check actual backlinks.

    for my self. i prefer to focus increase SERP instead check backlinks.

    If you have scrapebox use that, webmaster tools is not always reliable - I have 200+ high PR backlinks to one of my PR1 documentary websites, all linking via alexa, etc, yet webmaster tools says Zero. ;)

    I use seoreviewtools.com to check my backlinks as well as other seo metrics like domain authority and page authority. This is a free tool, yet gives you reliable results. I think this is a good tool. A simple google search will show you various options to check your backlinks and other seo metrics.

    I am also thinking of how to check the backlinks that you have created. What if your site is an old site that is active all the time and that you have been building the backlinks with your daily posting, how do you monitor the backlinks when it numbers more than a thousand? I think it is not easy to check on the backlinks if they are good or bad because of the big number. You may need a tool to categorize the backlinks.
