There are three basic things that Google focus on while measuring the freshness of a Query searched:
1) How many times its recently mentioned in Blogs?
2) How many times its searched in the Google recently?
3) How many times its mentioned in news?
If Google see an increase in the mention of a query/keyword in Blogs and News, and notice an increase in the search volume of a certain query, Google apply the QDF algorithm, as known as Query deserves freshness over it. [size=120][b]Query Deserve Freshness[/b] aka QDF is a part of Google Algorithm through which they brings you the latest results for those queries which actually deserves freshness. When the engines recognize that the "best" results for a certain search may change drastically from day-to-day, or moment-to-moment, they may mark the search QDF, which will help promote new, related content from trusted sources to the top of the SERP, even if that content doesn't yet have any links.
