SEO is an abbreviation of search engine optimization. Anything you do in order to increase your website visibility on search engines is SEO strategies. Linking building is one of the SEO strategies. Link building refers to a technique in which you will leave links of your website in various platforms. These links will be pointing towards your site. Backlink building is another word for link building.

When you say link building, it is the activity that you do to spread your backlinks to the internet particularly to forums, blogs and even social media networks. With SEO, you optimize your site so it will get a good ranking in the search list result of the search engine. However, I think link building is part of SEO and it is called off-page SEO which means the web page is not concerned.
