Who uses pen and paper?

With the advent of electronic means of communication, the art of writing on paper is being neglected a lot these days. Blogs, forums, cloud storage, word processors have made writing and editing much more simpler. It becomes really convenient to use the PC to work on an article without having the need to erase or re-write anything should you find something wrong with what you wrote. And its environment friendly. But, I will miss the books. The smell of the papers cannot be replaced with anything. The physical feel of going through a novel cannot be felt on a laptop/PC. All being replaced by the Kindle readers.

And for all the nostalgia of the old days, electronic communication is so much faster and intrinsically satisfying as you can just whip off an email or text to friends, rather than taking time to put pen to paper to write.

Possibly the only downside that I can see, the recipient is not likely to save texts or emails in the same way they saved letters.

I don't use pen and paper for writing articles(Maybe I will write someday in Bengali). But, my feelings about reading books is similar to you. I prefer books, not ebooks.

My daughters still use pencils, pens, and paper. I confess that when I have an idea I sometimes need to work out, I resort to using pen and paper instead of typing it up online. I'm old school I guess.

Hi cmoneyspinner, it's a good idea to have kids use pens and pencils these days especially since so much technology is available which robs them of that purpose. I was watching a news report awhile back that said 10% of a child's elementary school grade (2nd/3rd) was attributed to cursive writing. I don't know many adults that use it, though apparently it's still relevant if only to train a child's hands.
