If you wait for the search engines to index your site on their own, it might take a long time, sometimes it takes upto six months for search engines to index your site. Therefore submitting your sites to various search engines is very important. You should submit your sites to bing, google, yahoo, baidu, yandex etc.

    I need a research about this some months back and I was told not to wait because it might take too long for these search engines to do so.So I naturally submitted mine to Google, Bing, and Yahoo.So no need waiting for that long.Go ahead and do the needful.

    There is one discussion that say your website will be indexed by search engines when it has substantial amount of contents. There is no need to submit. However, just to be on the safe side maybe you have to submit your website to the search engines so it can be considered faster than the natural course when you are just relying on the contents of your website.
