Best way to gain traffic to my free promotion site?

I have a free site that offers a link directory, topsite, blog, and more. How can I get more members to it?

Try traffic exchange, lots of people who use those will probably register just to get their site link on it. That's +1 backlink for them!

The social media is the largest pasture for marketing. Whatever your business is, whatever type of website you have, you can always promote it in social media since all kinds of people are there. Of course, it is easier said than done since you need to exert effort. For instance, you can create a Facebook Page or Facebook Group to have your own network of people who are interested in your niche. And then you can herd them to your website later. But again, you need a lot of effort to gather people to your network.
