Disadvantages? Are you serious? There are no disadvantages.
If you do not know how to do SEO, you will have to hire an expert. If you are doing SEO, you will have to do a lot of work. These might be two disadvantages if you consider these as disadvantages.
Advantages, there are many advantages. One of the primary advantages is gaining organic traffic which helps in driving sales. You make more money.

Having SEO on your websites have more advantages than disadvantages, it boost your sites with a lot of subscribers and monthly visitors, I don't think there is any disadvantages of having SEO on your websites there is non I have heard of with such news.

Maybe you already know the advantages when you are doing SEO on your website. You get a good rank in the search list that equates to new traffic. The keywords that you stuff in your contents also give you new traffic. There’s also the good contents towards the same direction of getting to a good position in the search list results. But for the disadvantages, you spend time, maybe lots of time in doing SEO that will not work to your desires.

It has no disadvantages except for two:
1. If you hire a fake SEO expert that really doesn't know what he's doing.
2. Paying too much money for SEO without knowing what it's for.

As for the advantages there are so many here's the top 3:

1. Good Rankings
2. More Traffic
3. More Conversions
