    What happens when you select "This is a physical item that requires shipping"

    the reason i ask is, if i sell something does the buyer tell me his/her's address or do i have to put it in Buyer instruction part for them to tell me?

    When you post an item for sale, you have to indicate the costs for shipping if you're willing to ship it or you just want meet ups only or pick up. You don't need to state the price immediately of the shipping costs, but you need to let the buyers know about it. When you do this, an interested buyer will ask you how much the shipping fee. And that's when you can ask where is their location? It's just a common thing to ask for this at this point.

    Remember to be specific enough in your product description but leave enough details also so that the buyer will contact you and you can sales talk your product through inquiries.

    That's quite a proper answer. When you offer a product, you have to know your clients can be anywhere, so you don't know the shipping fee until you know the address. But, obviously you can let them know you are open to other options, like pick up, or personal meeting/delivery. That's why you have to be clear on your product's description, let your clients know all the information they must be wondering about.

    I think that is a sound advice to determine if it will be a meet up or a delivery. But if the buyer wouldn’t provide the delivery address then I don’t know how the product will get to his hands. Is there a hint of a scam or an unfair trade practice like ordering but not really buying? I’m just asking and has really no concern with the current issue. I believe that it is better to learn from the experience of other people.

    It looks like you got your answer here. I think that buyers are likely to choose this option at times so understanding as much as you can about the process allows them to feel comfortable that you know what you are talking about when you interact with them.

    What I do is to set up the payment and shipping options first then it goes automated; if someone is on the checkout counter he'll have all the options both payment and shipping where all data like billing address, shipping cost etc will be visible. It's the best and it's the only way of securing your ordering, payment and shipping system.

    If you opt for a manual system then good luck! Done that before it gave me a bad headache. What will happen is buyers will be messaging you non stop 24/7 it's stressful and time consuming.
    Just automate everything it's worth it.

    It's only for products that are physical and you need to ship to the buyer. If you have a product or service that is strictly electronic like a review or tweeting out a message then you don't have to use that option at all. I don't think anyone actually sells any physical items on this site so I'm not sure why they even bother with that option, to be honest.

    You are absolutely right about pointing out the nature of the service that needs address or shipping information. Physical products needs such information but once it's strictly electronic like a review or tweeting out a message, it's not required.

    One thing about shipment of physical products from a place to another is that you really need to keep the form where the buyer will have to provide those details that is needed when you ship the products them. The thing is that you can't really know the address offhandedly and contacting an agent to be of help is another good thing you can do on such matter.

    I believe that the issue of address of the buyer would only come up if it's a physical product that is being sold. An address should be make available to get such products to its buyers final destination. But if it's an electronic service, definitely there wouldn't be any need for address.

    I think it depends on the product of the seller. Sometimes they will sell services with or without the physical product for example-- t-shirt design. They are selling services thru designing a t-shirt. This time I think they will indicate if you want their product which is the t-shirt with the design they did for you.That's what Iv'ed think about physical product requires shipping. That's just my opinion.

    Well it depends on your terms...if your selling your product internationally it's probably wise to put shipping options. A seller can demand information like address and other things as long as it is within the license agreement. Lastly having a flexible shipping and product options can make your transactions with the buyer more clear and more smooth.

    Shipping mean that the product is needed to be brought by air or shipping and you need to pay extra money for that process.

    If one of your customers select the "This is a physical product that needs shipping" button or option then that means your selling physical products and having that button means that the shipping address and details along with the cost are probably built in your system and this would show up on your checkout counter.

    If you are an online seller you will need first to know the rate of a different delivery express service, Find the lowest shipping fee in the area because buyer looks for the minimal expenses. And when your posting your item includes the name of the courier in your description so that the next step is an interested buyer will ask how much is the shipping fee going to her location. And if you both agreed and discussed about everything you have to settle it in your personal information including her shipping address.
