I'm sure you've heard it all, social media is one of the best ways to pull in new clients and sales, but are you capitalizing on it already? I'm sure I've told thousands of people through my discussions to post great content, increase your followers, obtain more sign ups, etc. But did you know that social media marketing and search engine optimization go hand in hand?
We all know that posting to social media profiles will help increase your chances of getting a sale, but the content isn't the only thing you need to worry about. Your basic information such as you location and description, on your profiles, can help you get a new client on board. Think of it as optimizing your social media profiles for better rankings, even though it's not a search engine.
If you've ever done a search on Google, you've likely come across plenty of social media profiles ranking for short tailed as well as long tailed keywords. This means those profiles are optimized and Google took notice, then placed them accordingly within their rankings and are now sending traffic to the company's social media profiles.
Now, these social media platforms, such as Facebook, aren't necessarily a search engine but their internal workings are just as complex and can be used as one. Did you know that Facebook has over 2 billion searches each day on their platform? Twitter has even more at 2.1 billion and they don't show any signs of slowing down. What if you could capitalize on those searches and funnel massive amounts of traffic to your profiles?
It's definitely an important thing to update your website constantly by adding plenty of fresh content so the search engines take a liking to you. It's also a good thing to focus on your social media profiles and post to them regularly while adding great content. Here's how you can start building up your social media profiles:
More social profiles = More success
Having one or two profiles won't bring in as much traffic as if you had 10 or 20, obviously. Now, I'm not talking about making 20 different Facebook profiles and trying to optimize all of them for your own purposes, unless you have your own profile and 19 employee profiles all optimized for the internal rankings on a specific platform.
You will want to build up your own profiles on all the major social media platforms, and even the smaller ones. The bigger platforms that you should start with are Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram and Pinterest. You'll need to optimize all of these accounts as well as get your websites URL embedded on the profiles. Having all of your employees do the same thing will maximize the chances of siphoning traffic from these platforms to your website.
A trick you can do, if you don't have employees, is to make a bunch of accounts on the same "Work IP" and if anything goes south, you can always respond to the social platform as the employee and get the account unblocked. Of course, you'll have to post to all these accounts regularly, which will take a lot of time but could be worth it.
Write up your Bio's and don't forget to add keywords
The internal search algorithm on all of the social media platforms have their own search algorithms and they aren't as sophisticated as Google. A good example of this is LinkedIn, you can basically keyword stuff your entire profile and rank for whatever you want. They haven't fixed this issue and I've gotten profiles ranked for "SEO Specialist" within a few minutes and gotten plenty of clients because of it lol 
Not all of the internal search algorithms aren't as easy to manipulate as LinkedIn, but that doesn't mean they should be ignored. Make sure to get your main keyword within the descriptions or bios on the profile so you can have a better chance of ranking for them when someone searches.
High quality profiles have high quality images
When you land on a poorly designed website, you tend to leave before reading much. The same goes with your social media profiles and people will run away as soon as they get to them if there are low quality images on there. The images are the first thing people will see when they land on your social media profile, so you'll want to make it look as high quality as possible. You can use some stock images or start up Photoshop and get something made, just be sure you have the rights to the images so you don't get sued.
You don't have to post all the time, but you do have to post
So many times I've heard people complain about not getting traffic from their social media profiles, and it's usually because they're posting once a month. You'll need to post, on average, around once per week so you can stay relevant. Remember, anything you're posting will need to be keyword specific, and be sure to optimize it as well.
Being "Active" is different for each person
Not everyone will be able to post 10 times a day, and your visitors will understand that. If you're posting a few times a week or just once, the people who land on your profiles will still see the post as recent and likely click through to your website.
You also need to engage with the visitors to your profiles, if you don't, you will not be creating more content and hopefully boosting your rankings within the internal search systems on your social media platforms.
In Conclusion
If you do all of the above, you will notice a decent amount of traffic increase and your ROI will be better than it was before. You can have multiple profiles across the various social media platforms in order to siphon as much traffic as possible, so get to creating and thank me later lol
