Traditional advertising methods are beginning to struggle compared to quality content marketing. In the past you could purchase some prime commercial time on your favorite channel or put up a billboard and get plenty of clients, but it's not as effective today as is was 10 years ago. This is because they evolution of marketing that is moving into the digital realm, which means you need to start pushing out plenty of quality content to entice people to work with you instead of your competition. There have been plenty of studies on content marketing, and who's doing it, that shows more than 70% of B2C and B2B companies have a plan to increase their content generation in hopes of building their client base even more than it already is. Many of these companies know that it's a long journey to content marketing wins, but there are the few out there that will attack it as if it will come overnight, which it won't. The ones who think it will be a quick win are in for a rude awakening when they are writing up content for months and nothing is happening.
Writing content for your website isn't as easy as a lot of people make it to be. A lot of the blogs you've been on have writers who have been churning out content for years and only get better at it the more they post. You won't be on their level right away, but don't let that discourage you, because you can post quality content on your own websites or blogs and still compete with these bigger companies

Be Helpful To Others
Smart marketing is done by helping, not hyping. A lot of people think that online marketers are just people tying to get others to purchase something or sign up to a newsletter, but we're not lol. If you're doing proper content marketing, you're not always pitching a service or product, you're writing up quality content for everyone to read and learn something.
We know that when you help someone out, they are more likely to come back and purchase from you when they are in the market for your service or product. If you are providing quality content, in the form of helping others for free, they will begin to trust you and see you as someone that isn't in it for the money. You're basically playing with psychology and getting them to purchase from you at a later date by helping them out for free today
Kraft is actually a great example of this since they offer a load of great recipes for anyone to print off or simply read online for the next time they want to make dinner. Of course, the majority of the recipes call for the use of something related to the Kraft brand, but it doesn't matter much because they are helping people make a decision on what to make for dinner. People will usually purchase Kraft products if the recipe calls for it, but we all know that you can substitute a competitor and be just fine. What Kraft is doing is giving the buyer freedom to choose whatever they want, they don't necessarily have to purchase a Kraft product but they will likely do it since the recipe calls for it and they don't want their own cooking to differ from the finished product shown on the recipe page
Another great example is Home Depot and how they devote an entire section of their website to "Do It Yourself" or DIY projects that people can do on their own at home. Now, this is kind of odd since the company also employes thousands of contractors across the United States. If you think about it, it's a tricky way to get people to hire these contractors The person might try to do the work themselves, which means they will likely go into the nearest Home Depot and purchase the products they need. If they fail to do the work themselves, they may call into Home Depot and see who can do the work for them, and this is where the contractors come into play!
Tell An Amazing Story
We are all wired to get pulled into a great story that we're reading, and this is why you should become a great story teller. You'll basically be writing up a story that pulls people in and keeps them on your website, which will likely turn them into a client or at the very least someone that shares your content
Personal stories are taken to heart more than something you researched. This is because the person reading the story will feel like you're talking directly to them about your own experiences, and they will hang on every word. You can talk about pretty much anything, just be sure to keep it niche related so the reader stays with you and finished every word like it was a delicious treat
Produce Quality AND Quantity
When you decide to push into mass content marketing, you will need to focus on quality AND quantity. You can't just post a single piece of content that is 500 words long and expect everyone to throw money at you, it doens't work like that. You will need to get into detail about your topic and give away as much content as you can before the reader understands you're there to help them out You need to write every piece of content like it's the best every online. If you're just writing so-so content that everyone can get through in a minute, and it's not the best out there, you will likely see a lot of people dropping off of your website.
I know that you might not be able to produce the amount of content you need in order to appease the masses, but you need to at least try. Sit down for an hour a day and focus on writing content for your own website. If you can write 100 words per minute, you can hammer out 2 articles at 3,000 words a piece for that hour. Now, not everyone can type that fast since it means your fingers are pretty much moving all over your keyboard at a break neck pace without making any errors, so try to set your writing goal at one or two 1,500+ word post a day in order to compete online Remember, your content still needs to be high quality in order to keep people interested.
When it comes to quantity, you'll already be doing above the average if you're posting two articles at 1,500+ words each and every day. Most companies are posting once or twice a week and their articles are 1,000+ words each, so you'll have the upper hand by posting 8 more than them and having each post longer than theirs If you can't write up high quality content as frequent as this, do not worry!
