    Best ways to sell your website to a local business/company?

    Hey guys,

    I was thinking about this for a few days now and I'm wondering what are your ideas - which would be the best ways to sell your website to a local company? So, not just any business, I specifically mean LOCAL one.

    How would you go about it? Would you just call them and try to do a pitch? Would you arrange a meeting? Would you contact them through e-mail and wait for a response? Let's discuss.

    Since you are selling your website to a business company, it's just formal to set up a meeting. Your first move would be to email them and set an appointment if they wish to know more about it. Sometimes, reading the email or reading the ToCs and features of your website can be boring specially for those kinds of people who are always busy. It's better to explain to them in person and with demographics to surely captivate them and make them say yes.

    Ah, that's actually really clever and great idea. I did think that sending them an e-mail wouldn't have any effect since businesses receive many of those every day. Perhaps they would even put it into their spam and not read it.

    So, I agree that the best approach is getting in contact with them and have a meeting in person. You can portray the ideas behind the website better and if you're good at pitching it, then even better. Thank you!

    When you say local business company that means it is near your place, right? It is only right to set up a meeting so you can personally talk about the sale of the website. Take note that you are selling not just a simple product or commodity but it is like a house that has an architecture and contents. I may not be able to negotiate well if I have a site to sell that I would probably seek the help of those with knowledge in that line.

    At first you have to go to google search engine. Than type that you want to sell a website. You will find several website selling marketplace. Register with some website selling marketplace free and register your website. You have to join with minimum 3 website selling marketplace. After enlist of your website you will see the magic. In this way you will get your desired price also from your website.

    I don't think that you have read and/or understand what I wrote in my original post. I am asking about LOCAL business not just the general "how to sell your website".

    If I list my website to some random website selling platforms what's that got to do with local businesses? The chances they will see it is almost 0%. But thank you anyway Best ways to sell your website to a local business/company?

    One thing is having a website and another thing is having a website with a functionality that is worth the stress.
    If your website is good enough to solve the problem of a local business then you're half way there already, don't bother about sending an e-mail. or contacting them online, because your chance of getting accepted is slim.
    Meet with the CEO or the manager and show him your proposal of the website and why he should buy it. Trust me he won't bother giving it a try

    Are you trying to sell a ready made website to a local business? Or do you want to create a brand new website for a local business? If it is the latter then I think the first thing you need to do is to create some websites of your own so that you have some demos and examples to show as a portfolio to these business owners. Once you do that, just go around to the local businesses and inquire about their websites and see whether they are interested in a new website. Just before you do that, try and target the businesses with slightly older and not very modern websites. That way you are much more likely to get a business owner that says yes to you.

    Selling your website to a local business first entails tailoring the site to meet the demand of that business.The manager or CEO will or might only be interested in a site that will boost or promote their business or interest.So when you think of selling to a specific local business think about the kind of business they do.

    I once came across a site where people were trading their domains and functioning websites with each other. I think the name was Flipper or something similar. I don't know how legit the site is though but considering a lot of users were on it, I would assume that the site did work well and delivered on what services it promised. Of course, you could also just sell your site the traditional way, as you would with any other company or business, which is to meet with people online or in person first, and start negotiations from there. I know of some people who care a lot about the future of their site so they screen and choose carefully which buyers they consider, so maybe it's good to determine what you want out of the transaction first and just plan your next moves accordingly from there.

    I like the suggestion @centurion made on doing a Google Search. I guess he didn't explain it better and you also didn't look deep into it.

    You want a local business not the general. You can still find one on Google. That doesn't mean you have to start the process on the website. Copy the nformation then continue with @Authord suggestion on the email thing. Or you can choose to go there in person. I hope that helps.

    You need to make sure that the website is up and running before thinking about how to sell it. Also, you should endeavor to make the graphics of the site exciting. For you, contacting the big company is a good way to keep them posted.

    Since some time, I am thinking to sell my web designing and content building services to the companies based in my town, However, I am yet to start pitching. I am confused whether I should open an office so that I can have people come to me to buy service, or continue working from home and use phone and internet to get in touch.
    First of all you need to do a market research and find out whether there are buyers or not, if there are buyers, you need to identify potential buyers and then start pitching.

    Selling a website is similar to selling a house. You have to be prepared with your pitch and answers to possible questions that first and foremost is the reason why you are selling. Of course, you can have a good alibi for that but still, you need to be fully prepared so when the questioning turns to interrogation, there will be no loopholes. And the description of the past operations regarding the business side should be presented in a positive way. Now, the next step is to find a buyer, right?
