There are many famous ones like Tumblr, Joolma and Typepad and there are many more. Even there are some smaller ones which are launched daily by some kids at their homes. Just trying to be the next blogger maybe.

There are dozens of free blogging platforms, however, in my experience the best alternatives to Blogger and Wordpress are weebly, Simplesite and Wix. Good thing about these free blogging platforms is you can upgrade your blog for a small amount. If you choose Simplesite, you can get a free dot com domain just by paying $1 a month for a premium account. Weebly charges $4 for hosting your account.
