    Do You Use the Wordpress App?

    I know that a lot of us here are using WordPress for our websites and blogs. We usually use a laptop or a desktop PC to edit our sites and add content. But there are also times that we use our smartphones and tablets to open our sites to publish a post or reply to comments.

    If you use a mobile device to log in to your sites, do you use the WordPress app or do you simply open it in the browser of your phone or tablet. I personally do not use the WordPress app since I find it slow and clunky and with limited capabilities. I prefer logging in to my sites by simply using the browser of my smartphone and tablet. What about you guys?

    The Wordpress mobile app is a surprisingly robust tool that allows a Wordpress blogger to write new posts, edit content, and manage comments with built-in notifications all from within a mobile device. It is available on both Android and iOS. It supports both self-hosted Wordpress and Wordpress.com users of all experience levels. It was first released in 2010 and has been around for seven years now. Interestingly, the app has accumulated more than ninety-nine thousand reviews on the Google Play store, garnering an average of 4.2 stars out of a perfect 5-star rating. Based on the reviews and a large number of comments, the app seems to be thriving among quite a number of users, with mostly positive feedback. It seems to be adequately capable of matching all the major functions of the desktop or web app. But as expected, there are quite a few niggles that prevent it from being the complete Wordpress experience.

    I installed this app on my Android phone a few months ago. I use it mostly to do quick checks on some stats and to perform simple blog administration. Since my phone has a small 4.5" screen, I don't use it to compose or edit posts. Maybe if I had a larger tablet, I might try to write blogs with it. But until I actually try it out, I can't say for sure if the mobile app can sufficiently replace the desktop or web app.

    It seems this happens with most apps that convert websites to a mobile version. I have not used this particular app but i avoid them for a reason. When it comes to work(blogging and content writing) I prefer to take the safest route. It's better to wait till i get home than to rism my content coming out messy.

    Thanks for your query. I have two wordpress site but I never use wordpress apps for browsing. Still I never face any difficulties for using on browser. it is as usual to me. It may good, if you would say some facilities of apps use for wordpress site. Than I can go for it. Is there any differ to open site via mobile or laptop? As per as know just front end has bit different for laptop view or mobile view. Is there any function worked behind by wordpress mobile apps for admin or developer?

    No, I have never used the WordPress app. I have used my phone to access the WordPress website many times and I am always pleasantly surprised how well it's optimized and how functional it is. However, I am not surprised that they've also made the app for it. I would love to give it a try and see if it's truly this buggy and clunky but it's impossible since it's only for iOS phones and I have always been using Android only.

    You said the app has limited capabilities, which ones? Maybe you should point it out to the app developers and they'll add more options to it.

    I'm not using Wordpress on my mobile phone, I'm using Wordpress only from my PC when I add content on my blog. I don't see how using it on a mobile can bring any new benefits to the user!

    Agreed. I find that you also risk losing the content that you create should press a wrong button. Very easy to commit grammar mistakes given the size of the screen also.

    There are a lot of reasons for using your phone to access your WordPress sites. You might want to reply to comments while you don't have access to your PC. You might want to send some hate comments to the trash bin outright and your phone is the only gadget currently accessible to you. You might need to add a user immediately. Or maybe you're at a big event and you want to send hourly updates to your blog followers. I could go on and on.

    I do agree though that using your PC to access your WordPress site is the safest thing to do. But there are certain circumstances when you'll be needing to login via your phone.

    Agree with this, I also run my account on my personal pc at home, more than just the benefits of having a mobile app, I would go with safety, mobile devices seem very easy to crack and hack to me, so I rather use Wordpress in a safer way

    I seldom use the WordPress App. The only times I use it is when I'm on the move and without my PC. What I usually is it for is to draft articles which I eventually edit properly on my PC. Also, I use it to save post title of what I'd like to write about in future so I don't forget.

    Bottom line, I use the WordPress App but not regularly.

    I used WP apps but to be honesty I only used it for testing purposes.
    Because for wordpress, I am already having responsive theme which will support well mobile or tablets device so it is not necessary to use a WP app.

    I didn't honestly know there was a wordpress app. It is something I will keep in mind because it could be helpful. It could allow you to try out features you might want to incorporate in your blog or perhaps do some article editing. I don't use wordpress now, but might consider it in the future.

    I use WordPress app on mobile. As my known Word Press app had been designed for mobile use and should need to download from App store. For using on desktop or laptop- you need to log in by web site address.

    The WordPress app is comparatively slow. There are some other problems as well, but if you are just forward to check out the stats, then it is fine. Apart from that it is difficult to check out the changes. In fact, if I don't save the article in draft, it disappears automatically.

    I don't use the word press app much myself, but I do have it on my phone. I'm just so use to using my laptop to edit my website that I don't even use the phone app much, but the little time I have used the word press app I was impressed with what I saw, you can do a lot of editing right from your phone, which is pretty cool if you ask me.

    So far I have only tried the Blogspot application on my mobile phone. Although having read some articles regarding which platform would be better, I am considering whether to move to Wordpress since I have the long term of earning through blogging, in all honesty. I think I should start with using the Wordpress app, despite it being clunky as some of you have said.

    Isn’t it hard to compose a long article using the mobile phone? To be honest, I can only surf the internet on my phone and I sometimes use it for posting but only for important messages and posts that couldn’t wait. I normally use the desktop or the laptop at home because it is easier. Yesterday there was a problem with a troll in Facebook and my husband pointed to the desktop to resolve the problem because the mobile browser does not have the complete features.
