Do you prefer minimalistic websites?

Hello people! I have been thinking for a long time now to give my blog a new appearance. I also have been looking for inspiration by seeing some other succesful blogs and it seems to me like they all have something in common (mostly in my area, which is fashion and lifestyle): they are all minimalistic! What do you think of minimalistic websites?

I'm a bit biased here since I love Google's Material Design so I really love anything with material design overlaid on it. I guess you could say that material design is minimalistic since it looks simple but elegant.

So yeah, I prefer sites that are minimalistic since they tend to be more user-friendly (it's easy to the eyes), and it's more accessible (it is simple so you know were things are located). If you are building a website, putting a material design theme on it would make it look better and appealing.

My opinion is that if you have excellent and interesting content, a minimalist design will suffice. I myself prefer simple and classy websites since I can focus on what's important. Colour scheme selection is also important so that readers feel comfortable reading the blog.

When I visit a website, what I want to see are the contents particularly the menu on the home page. But generally when I go to the inner pages I am expecting good contents, not very short but not very long either. I would prefer a web page with images because it enhances my reading and I also enjoy when there images are interesting. Now with the design, it wouldn’t matter much to me.

I tend to prefer minimalist sites, but I think that is just my preference in things overall in my life anyway. I live a very Spartan life, and I hate clutter in all things. I love functionality and clean lines, and I think that, at least for me, this type of directional clarity lends to a better experience of the medium.

I always sort of preferred the minimalistic website designs. But even in other areas, such as my desktop, my phone's theme and so on, I love the minimalistic styles. Why? because you can achieve much more by using less. More doesn't always equal as better and if you are good at designing a website you can create an incredible effect where your content will be the whole center - it is achieved through minimalistic designs!

I guess it is always a personal choice but if you like it, then go for it Do you prefer minimalistic websites?

I agree, some sites tend to spruce up their sites with themes so much, users get confused with the layout. Minimalistic styles tend to look elegant but simple. It does not sacrifice the accessibility of the site! Some themes are also quite distracting if used a lot, the content should be the focus of the site and not the design!

I'm absolutely a minimalistic sort of guy. I love minimalism as a movement as a whole so of course minimalistic web sites are going to appeal to me. I try to keep it as my main design goal when creating a web site, but sometimes clients don't like. Those cases are very rare and I must say I'm very happy with the outcome.

Yes, absolutely. It makes the site look neat and elegant, and lets me focus on what's actually relevant, what I came to the site for in the first place. I don't like designs that attract too much attention, I don't like anything driving me away from the point (and for me, it's easy to get distracted haha). So yes, I prefer minimalistic design and with ads placed accordingly.

Yes! I know. That's exactly the way I feel about it and I think that's why this kind of sites are more succesful. Minimalistic style makes a website look more clean, elegant and classy as it makes you focus on the content. Thank you for your response!

I prefer the minimalistic approach. I like resting my eyes on a clean simple design, and I usually enjoy my visit on a website where I can easily find my way around.

Numerous sites have such a great amount of going on that it's troublesome for guests to comprehend what is the point of convergence of the site, or what is generally essential. Basic sites have leverage in that they would more be able to successfully guide the guest's thoughtfulness regarding the most imperative substance of the page.

I actually have a thing for minimalist websites. Websites with such designs appear simple and user-friendly. Finding your way around it is as easy as pie. Minimalist website are somewhat similar to Google's material design and encourage a lot of users activity.

I think minimalistic websites have better conversion. So having such type of design is recommended. As you can see the more minimal design the easier it gets to convert the affiliate links. I have seen that some of the VA and the work at home type blogs have such minimal design. And that surely gets the conversion with it. But considering some minimal website may look dull and doesn't look fresh content. So it's worth having design variations.

If possible, I wish that websites have limits on how many features they only could display on their pages. With minimalistic theme, the only things that are displayed are those that are important. It would much be better to pair the minimalistic theme with a light color, rather than having black or bright colors since exposure to bright colors makes my eyes strain. I tend to think that minimalistic websites are transparent and trustworthy.

I personally think that you should keep it like that hon! Minimalistic websites look pleasing to the eye for me, as long as it doesn't look too minimalistic that it looks like it lacks something that it shouldn't. There are a lot of websites that aren't minimalistic and I usually find them too clustered and looks a bit unprofessional. Keep it up with the minimalistic style, it seems to be the modern trend.

When I first started blogging I did prefer the minimalistic themes or templates. But now it depends on the publishing platform. For example, Google recently added some new templates to the selection for the Blogspot blogs. I tested them but in the end I reverted back to the old theme. However, if I am publishing a microblog like on a Tumblr platform, I prefer the grid themes. You can display more content on the first page when a visitor lands there.

By the way ... great question!

I think it's gone when the sites were visually polluted. Today, the minimalist concept has come to stay and I believe that more and more we will see websites adopting this style. I myself am adept at this style and support your choice.

Good luck and success with your site!

Iactually prefer minimalistic designs in blogs or any other web site, otherwise
I get really overwhelm with the colors and shapes and I lose interest in what’s
really important: the information. But as some people said before me you can
have an attractive design but the main worry should be on content because the first
image will drag the person, that’s for sure but the content it’s what’s going
to keep them interested and coming back to your blog.

I love minimal websites because it represent simple, beautiful and attractive design. Give more white background to show more space, don't make the whole site looks cramp and avoid dark or bright colors. Minimal the images and graphics, put in more words with tips would be sufficient to attract readers. Enlarge one image for a section, take a look at joyofbaking dot com site, now is a good example.

Indeed I prefer minimalists websites, because usually they download faster, they have less heavy items, they don't have a big bunch of pop-ups, it goes straight to the main focus area. All of those make navigation so easy, and servers don't get overloaded with unnecessary stuff. I think that is good for the owner too, because maintenance is easier, and when a website has a lot of advantages attracts more users.

I think a minimal design can look sleek and efficient. It might be one of the best ways you can present your content. I think most people prefer not having to wade their way through lots of extraneous junk. It may be the best way to go.

I certainly do prefer a minimalistic website. I tend to avoid websites that are too saturated. A simple and clean design can go a long way and you don't need too many things to make a website attractive. This applies more to professional websites, the last thing you want is people turning away because of an unprofessional looking site.

I can say that I definitely do enjoy sites with a minimalistic design, but this isn't specifically because they are minimalistic. People who go for minimalism tend to be aware of what it takes to make good design choices, as minimalism can be difficult to tackle. Because of this, they make overall good design decisions which make the site look wonderful. But minimalism isn't always appropriate either. Some sites just don't suit the minimalistic aesthetic.

I do like simple and minimalist themes. Easy to navigate with a little touch of color , nothing too overwhelming or complex to use is best.

I think the big benefit of a minimalistic design is site speed. Hitting a 2 to 3 second load time is extremely difficult. And. having a lot going on, it really slows things down.

I am a simple person and it is obvious that I would prefer a minimalistic design because I actually dislike complex web page designs. The traditional home page with a short menu and a nice image for the background will do for me. But given a complicated home page with a long list of menu choices, I would probably get a headache. Until now, I am seeing some websites with such design for their home page.
