When it comes to keeping your clients happy, one of the best ways to do this is by giving them something they weren't expecting. This could mean that you did some free design work for them if you're a graphic designer or you went above and beyond with their SEO campaign if you're an online marketer. Now those things are all good and nice, but why not send your clients something they can hold in their hands?
In the past I've done this and I was surprised at what happened. I would send out customize coffee mugs, about 1 dozen of them, to my clients that were paying me monthly to do Online Marketing for them. They did not know these were coming to them, so when the mugs arrived at their door step they were pleasantly surprised 
On the mugs there was a high resolution logo, theirs of course, on the mugs so that they would love them more than just getting a random gift. A lot of companies will send free merchandise to clients with their own logos and website on them, but I do it differently so that the people will have the mugs in their break room or on their desk at all times. The people making the decisions will know where the mugs came from and they will think of you every time they look at them or use them
You can use a service like CafePress.com to do all of this for you at a reasonable price. Each mug will cost you, on the high end, $16. On the low end they could cost you around $7 but you'd have to purchase a lot of them.
If you're purchasing 1 dozen, which is recommended, these specific mugs will cost you $8.47 a piece. This is actually a great price for any type of high quality mug.

Now you don't have to send them mugs, you can send them whatever you want. You can even send them products with your own logo on them. If you go with your own logo, be sure it's something they will use all the time. Coffee mugs will work well with this, but I would say that you should send mouse pads or pens if you're going to be branding them with your own logos because people will use these every day, or at least keep them around for when they do need them.
Sending out pens with your logos on them are a great advertising method because everyone needs to write something at some point lol. How many times have you been given a pen and you throw it out? Never! You always hold onto it because in your head you think "So what if it has a logo on it, it's functional and I can use it". With that being said, you can't just hand out $0.10 BIC pens to people and think they'll love them. Get some gel ink pens that cost around $1.00 a piece if you buy in bulk and brand them. People will always use a good pen over something they aren't sure will work. You will also look like a better brand because you're giving away a high quality item for free.
When sending out mouse pads you will want to make sure that the companies you're sending them to actually use computers fairly often. If you're sending these mouse pads to mom and pop shops that only have a register at the front, it's not a good investment on your part. You will want to send mouse pads to offices in your area because they will more than likely have multiple computers in each office that will be able to utilize a mouse pad. If you have the budget for it, you can even use this as a form of marketing in order to pull in clients that aren't answering your calls or emails
In Conclusion:
You will always want to give out some sort of free products to your loyal clients or even some clients that may be on the fence when it comes to signing up for your services. You can even send out these types of gifts to companies that you've never talked with in the past and you just want to get in contact with them to see if they'll sign up with you, it costs much more to advertise this way, but it works sometimes lol.
