Getting into the Mindset of a Freelancer and Mining the Gold in them thar hills!

Freelancing is like mining. You know there's gold in them thar hills! But you'll need to dig in to that hill from the bottom to the top! You could even think of it like a tiered and stacked structure. A pyramid made up of different levels. Where those levels at the top are the most successful freelancers and or even complete businesses that are offering freelance services.

Because what is freelancing? It's working independently for yourself or even for a someone else for a client or a business. With no strings attached. Meaning, no contract to sign, no only getting a cut of the profit while the majority goes to the boss. And basically, that is the definition of being a freelancer. You pay me and I'll do the work for you (or get it done through me completely seamlessly as you requested). Or I'll do it and then you'll pay me. And I prefer to deal and trade with people and businesses that put their money where their mouth is. That's exactly one of the reasons why I love to do freelance work and my business on SEOClerks.

In my early days and first real time I experienced freelance, when I was a bit naive, I'd put my trust and faith in anyone I got duped a couple times lol and I knew where I was finding my clients from at that time it could happen again but that's just like any industry, marketplace, site or platform and not a reason you should use to stop doing it!

That was long ago, in what was for me about the 2nd time i started freelancing on SEO forums as I had gained some skills and tools, experience in some SEO link building and web automation software. So I learned the coding language enough to make my own custom coded Sick packets and templates for Sick Submitter and that was truly sick. A typical example of what being in the right place at the right time with the right pokes and prods, a little learning of how to code in sic code and with the demand so high for a sleek and good web Automator Sick Marketing had competition but weren't far off. My packets and templates were made to do actions on all manner of websites. I put together an all in one package once made up of custom coded packets and templates for just about every high authority site, type and platform there was back then and still is now like the highest authority forums in your niche, the blogs, social sites, wikis, bookmarks, web2, rss, ping the lot. Create accounts for you spinning all fields changing IP, user agent, everything so all footsteps were covered.

And Sick Submitter was quite a versatile tool as well. A small learning curve and there was lots of updates for it by them as they used it their self as a team doing SEO and stuff. And it really peaked for a while and they was getting hundreds of new users a day all installing Sick and then buying my packets and templates and other people's too for doing all sorts of things in Sick not just lists of forums it can spam lol. Any such tool like that's can be utilised by both true SEO experts and any Joe Bloggs and used smartly or used to bomb with. By bomb I just mean mass create accounts and submit a link and then output the urls for you. You could run thousands of threads at once if your PC could handle it. Which means you could create around 100 accounts, confirm the emails, edit your profile and submit a link all in about 3 minutes time.

But it was much more than that. And could be used for much more legitimate reasons. It saves all your sites login details etc so you could use it as a tool to create those accounts you need on big high authority sites, social media sites, sites, forums, blogs in your niche etc. It could run in hidden mode or semi manual so you could nurse it along which was perfect for sites that were difficult to code for and automate.

So yeah Sick was a great tool to use for doing SEO in, link building on the highest authority sites and that kind of stuff. And it got really popular and I was selling about 20 of my AIO bundles per day from anywhere from $50-150 a time which was fun when my fone would ping with a PayPal payment notification.

And that lasted for a while as well, about a year almost but did peak for a few months too. And then suddenly just like that, Panda happened and many website took a whack in the SERPS and if really shook up the traditional SEO and link building industry for a while! People were scared to do SEO for a while in fear they would get whacked. Back then Google came under scrutiny for unfairly whacking and punishing even good sites that didn't have any questionable backlinks. But it had a knock on effect for Sick Marketing and Sick Submitter too. User numbers dwindled, subscribers unsubscribed, and eventually they just decided to stop supporting it. Eventually nobody bought any more of my packets/templates and bundles but that's just how it goes sometimes in that territory! Anyone that was an affiliate for SEO tools and software back then like Xrummer, ScrapeBox etc etc will know what it was like. There was this kind of recession on for it. Demand for it dwindled but slowly it has picked up again or keeps going as there are some truly sophisticated web automation and SEO link building tools out there today that can do things in a Google friendly way.

But that was just my experiences as an early freelancer. Selling things and then helping people to use them. And I used to get a lot of questions! But it all sort of helped me get to where I am today. It all gave me those early business skills if you like that I learned a lot from without needing to go for Business Management and Business Skills Building course to learn either!

Now you don't need any of that same experience to be a freelancer of course! You will learn-as-you-go anyway! All you really need to do is to provide something, some service there is a demand for and then actually provide it! And SEOClerks is a great marketplace that gives you everything you need to. And as I said, I prefer to deal with people, clients that put their money where their mouth is as opposed to those tire kickers you can get you know the type!

And provided you do work hard, you do learn, you do jump through those hoops, you do earn that trust and respect, then you can find success as a freelancer on SEOClerks today!

But you'll have to put yourself in the mindset of a freelancer and you'll have to think like one. A good one, one that knows what's in demand, knows how to tap into it, knows how to provide it and knows how to keep clients happy!

I did not. I actually played around with it online while working 60 hour work weeks at a golf course doing everything from setting up golf outings to bartending. I wanted to start my own business, and freelancing was one of the ways you will get a lot of experience in the field you're targeting. It sounds bad, but you're going to screw up a few times while freelancing so do it there and not within your business. Get all the kinks out and then start up your main business

A long time ago I was on various platforms selling SEO services and eventually decided to get into my own business. I wouldn't get many sales, if any, from the other platforms because I was in the US and couldn't compete with people from foreign countries who can live on $100 for the month

I needed to branch out and setting up my company is what put me on the map (sort of). I was able to reach big companies and have them give me a chance for their SEO needs since I was incorporated, if I were just a freelancer they would have overlooked me in a heartbeat

When I started working online my only thought was "I wish I can be successful enough so that I don't have to work a 9 to 5 and answer to anyone who's in a management position". Basically I didn't want to have a boss. And with a lot of corporate structures you have 36 bosses lol. As for your questions... I'm working online now!" it takes time to get into the mind set and actually be successful as a freelancer. I mostly worked on low cost projects. So that seems to be hindering my growth. And I have yet to land 500$ onwards clients. So that being said, I'd just find out what skills that I can make use of and do my best. Because often our skill is what makes the most money. So I am currently working on the skills that can pay me better. You can see that some of the skill such as the code would earn money but requires some good clients in due process. That's what I can tell you about it as well.

That was my plan for 2018. I've got some projects just started in 2017 and I need to make sure they run smoothly first before taking on another endeavor. But thanks for the pep talk.

How did you get into the mindset of a freelancer?

I found myself unemployed and needed some work to do so I hired myself.

Did you have some previous freelancing experience or success in some other way before?

No previous freelance experience. But I have been working since 1976. I acquired some skills over that period of time. All I needed was a desktop or a laptop and Internet access.

Has it all come about from and through SEOClerks?

I like the discussions here. I learn a lot. I also like the services that I can get here. I first started at Fiverr. I found SEOClerk through Postloop. Now I hardly ever use Fiverr.

There are things that I've done as a freelancer that I never expect myself to have done and that's the way to prove to people that freelancers are truly gems that just need to believe and they will achieve the best in what they do. I also have worked with some lads that got incredible potentials that one really need to keep pushing to ensure that things work out for the better.

I have been freelancing for more than 3 years and I’d say I am enjoying the work hence I am still here. But with the rewards, I have to admit that I am earning peanuts compared to the salary that I earn from my full time job. But maybe when I go full time in freelancing, the earnings will be comparable and even more. However, that ample earning can be realized if I would enter into an online business of selling which can give me unlimited earnings.

That could be because if you are working in PTP, PTC and survey sites. That's not freelancing. Freelancing means real skilled jobs like article writing, graphics designer, SEO and coding type of jobs. If you are doing those jobs then you should be earning good. Though not always would be possible to replace the job income because the freelancing big earning gigs are not regular. So you may have to find the better paying clients.
