If you have an order and you cannot complete it, either because you can't currently provide it or some other outside reason is preventing you from doing it, such as some technical problem, or even something else that means you can't complete it, don't just leave it sitting there. Communicate! Tell your buyer that you cannot do it right now and tell them why. Tell them that you'll be able to do it on such and such a time when such and such happens. Or tell them the reason why you can't do it right now. Never just leave an order sitting there while the buyer is waiting for you to deliver it when you can't. That's the worst thing to do!
And don't ignore buyers when they request more information as to what's happening with their order either. Buyers can see when you've last logged in, and if they've sent you several messages asking what's going on with their order and you don't respond to them that day, they're going to see that and think, why is this guy ignoring me for and not responding to me. You know?
So just a tip for freelance sellers really, never not update someone's order simply because you can't do it. Or if you can't do it that day but need some more time, just tell them that! What's the worst that could happen? Because you have to realize, those buyers are putting their trust in you. They're investing their time and business in you. And by doing so, and you not delivering, they are loosing valuable time when they could just cancel the order and go and buy that thing somewhere else.
I'm just saying, for those sellers that do do this, those sellers that don't update their buyers orders, even if it's just to say thanks, communicate! Communicate with your buyer when he/she is requesting more details. Just let them know what's up. Talk to them. Tell them about your technical problem that's delaying them from working on and or delivering your order to them.
Most people will be cool with it and understand and give you the benefit of the doubt. At the very worst, they will cancel on you. But that's fine. Because if you can't do it, and someone else can, well then they should cancel. Because business is business at the end of the day and you have to realize, understand and respect that.
What do you do (as a freelance seller) when you have an order placed that you can't do?
Do you just leave it sitting there until you can do it?
Or do you talk to your buyer and tell them the score about how long it will take for such and such a reason?
Is there anyone here that can relate to this and know where I'm coming from?
What do you think? Should sellers communicate with you if they can't deliver an order?
Is that a rhetorical question?
Cheers!
Mike.

Thanks Raz! God I wish everyone would answer my posts like this lol. Thanks Raz very true mate you say it like is and like it should be! I can't say much right now as I'm on my fone for a few days until my new PC arrives but you've basically hit all the nails well and truly on the head that much I can say!
Wouldn't it be nice if everyone was like this?

When it comes to orders you'll always want to be honest with your buyers. If you don't think you're going to complete the order on time then let the buyer know ahead of time and not on the day it's suppose to be due. Letting them know on the due date is really annoying and you'll get a good amount of charge backs. The same goes with late order, no one wants to see them and they don't want to hear "I need a few extra days" when the order is already late a week lol.
What do you do (as a freelance seller) when you have an order placed that you can't do?
I only sell services that I know I can complete within the time frame I posted. I will usually double the amount of time that my websites will say just in case something does go wrong. This way I will usually be delivering on time or if it's late to me, it's on time to them
Do you just leave it sitting there until you can do it?
No. If I know I can't work on it, I won't accept new orders. So many people are money hungry that they'll accept anything that comes in regardless of the fact they probably don't have time to work on it. Close up shop until you can work efficiently on an order and you'll get more 5 star reviews
Or do you talk to your buyer and tell them the score about how long it will take for such and such a reason?
If for some reason my timeline is all jacked up and it takes much longer than possible I will usually email the buyer before the due date and let them know the order might not be completed within the time frame we agreed upon. I will tell them I can finish it today but it might not end well because Google could penalize them (I'm selling SEO services). This way they understand that I have their best interests at heart and I'm not just trying to get everything done a.s.a.p.
Is there anyone here that can relate to this and know where I'm coming from?
I can relate because I sell a lot of SEO, just not on here because I target big corporations. I may not get as many sales, but I like what I'm doing
What do you think? Should sellers communicate with you if they can't deliver an order?
Hell Yes! Sellers shouldn't be going afk when they get an order or dodge questions sent in by the buyer. Good communication is key when it comes to building a long term relationship with your clients. I know that I've stopped buying from great sellers here on SEOclerks simply because they didn't respond to me for a week or two.
Is that a rhetorical question?
Do you think it's rhetorical? lol
- Razzy This goes for almost any business out there, unless you're a company that provides an internet connection service like Comcast lmao :D There are plenty of times I've had them on the phone and they'll say something like "We can be out there between 11am and Saturday. Does that work for you?" Well they don't really say that, but you get the idea lmao :D When it comes to orders you'll always want to be honest with your buyers.
