Been Out Of Action Past Few Days :(

Well I have come to terms I need to join a new Internet broadband provider . If there any other UK members on here and if you are with Sky broadband does it work well for you. I have broadband and the TV package and am so annoyed with there services past few days. I work online and I have missed a lot of work because they can't pull there finger out.

The broadband connection kept disconnecting and the internet light on the broadband box always going orange. I had past few days ringing them a lot of the time to complain. All they say is we send you new box or send engineer out to you. That is all they give me. I told them my situation and at one point they got funny with me . So told them are they going to pay me the money I have been missing out on they soon shut up.

So sorry if I have not been online everyone so far its working ok

I'm with Sky Broadband Kev, I've been with them for years now. Probably about 8 years I think now. It's not been without it's problems! I used to have a lot of connection problems, constant drops and that. However saying that, (fingers crossed) I haven't had any problems like that in a long time now fortunately. I think they had "teething issues" when they were first doing Broadband but seem to have sorted it out now. But it all really depends on your area I guess. And what kind of connection it is (ie; copper wire (telephone wire) or fibre optic. That and how far away you are from the local exchange (that little green box on the side of the road) as generally, the further away you are from that sucker, the slower your Internet gets.

I would say, stick with them if you're getting a better (cheaper) deal. For example, we have the Sky bundle so we get some programs (bar the movie channels) and phone line and Internet allinone. And that works out cheaper for us than buying it all from different providers. And once they find out what is causing the issues with your drop outs and that they should be able to fix that and then you should have an intermittent free Broadband connection.

What type of connection is it you got anyway mate copper or fibre?

Oh yeah I agree the Sky tv bundles are great. Just the internet what bugs me lol. Yeah green box I think is 5 minutes down the road so probs thats whats up with it . But some times its great don't get me wrong but past few days the connection been very bad.

Now as well the stepped up and not sure if you noticed mike but some sites you cant get on or is it just me. I use to use the black hat seo forum says provider sky shield as blocked this site. But not just that they blocked my own personal site well one of them . Not sure why like it was only a games site. But perhaps I just need to login to sky change settings but not sure why the suddenly blocked my site.

Ohh you have sky shield activated! I eventually got so fed up with that thing blocking even normal sites that I just ended up disabling it. Yeah they don't use a user voting system for that they use a category filter and if your site falls within that category it gets blocked. You can remove your site from that filter.

To block or allow websites individually

Select the Block & allow websites tab.
Enter the address you'd like to block or allow in the appropriate box, and select Add.
If you no longer want to restrict access to a site, select Remove next to the site address in the list.
Select Save all settings.

Otherwise you can also contact them and request your site be removed from the filter as it's a mistake.

If you think that your website is in the wrong category, email us at [email protected]. We'll review your request, and if we agree, we’ll update our information as soon as we can.

They usually do if your site doesn't have anything nefarious on it.

I am sorry to hear that moneybags. Nothing worse than your internet not working and it being a problem with the provider a lot of the time and they usually take their time to sort you out as well which never makes sense to me as it would benefit them more to just get it sorted.

I am with Virgin Media myself and I find their services to be one of the best, any problems and I call them and they deal with it straight away, sometimes even whilst you are still on the phone with them.

I hope you get to the bottom of your problem with Sky Broadband soon.

I my self might switch back to virgin media not sure why I left them in the first place . The internet never went down when was with them and the tivo box was great specially watching youtube on it lol.

I will admit they are a lot better compared to other broadband providers in the UK, they do have their moments but they are always quick to recitify the problem when anything happens which I think is great! They are the only broadband provider I believe that has the fastest speeds as well in terms of their internet and they are not overly expensive either. I used to love their Tivo box when I had it, used to use their music video section a lot on the Tivo box.

Hi, Money I am sorry to hear this. I never had any problems with my Internet provider, in fact, my Internet provider is the best. We have a high speed 100 mbps, no disconnection, not even when is a bad weather. I have no complaints and I never Intend to change my provider!

I hope that you no longer have internet connection problems now. I know how difficult it can be to have internet problems especially when you work online. I have switched to another Internet service provider as I had lots of problems with the previous one. I am happy with this new internet service provider and haven't had any problems so far.
