Job applications. Online or offline. What do you do?

We have talked about this previously too, but we've never really covered this exact topic, which is why I've published this discussion..

Let's face it, you don't really send job applications if you're working on SEOClerks for instance, except on the WTB section.. - But the WTB section is rather easy to use, and you don't really have to put in that much of effort to apply for a job.

That being said, do you think it would be better to send something more similar to a "real job application" whenever someone is looking to hire a freelancer on the WTB section?

I mean, someone creates something like this:

"I need a 500 word article for $5".

And you can see tons of people posting immediately with things like:

"I can do this for $5." or "I will give you 505 words articles for $3" etc. etc.

However, do you think it would benefit the sellers or the buyers, if they used a proper "job application" for that specific task instead?

And what do I mean with a "job application" then?

Well, just something more "serious" actually. Something where people are giving more background information and details about themselves and their previous tasks for instance.

What do you think? - Would you benefit from doing that or not?

But if you was pitching someone on say LinkedIn or somewhere professional like that then yes, a resume (or CV if you're from the UK) or even some sort of cover letter that explains who you are, what your skills, talents, qualifications and experiences etc are would indeed give them more insight into you as the right person for the job they need doing certainly.

What makes you ask this though Andre? I think it could be a good thing if you could submit some kind of resume/CV when bidding on peoples WTB's. But then, your profile is kind of like your resume in a way where you have recommendations and feedback on your services. And of course, the area on your profile where you can tell the world about you and why they should hire you!

I don't have any good reason for this question Mike. It was just something that crossed my mind a few days ago when I applied for a job.

I don't like the thought of doing this for everything on WTB's, but I think it could be a pretty cool thing to do, even though this might not be the best place to do it.

Well if it is for a big job on SeoClerks then I would certainly expect the seller to send a really good pitch, certainly enough for me to go and look at their profile and check out their feedback and recommendations!

I have found the so many sellers just respond to WTB's and other requests with a "yes I do type of answer which just ticks me off!

I think a resume is always a good idea for pitching for jobs, both online and offline. I have always submitted a resume with every job that I have applied for.

Yes, I do think that both soft and hard copies of job applications should be available. Expecially, for the old fashioned pin and paper .

On getresume you can also order a resume. Professional authors will write it for you. I think it will increase the chances of finding a better-paying job.
