Hello freelancers and content creators!
I would love to improve my writing skills and I am interested in "the art of copywriting".
I do know that you'll have to work hard and all that, and obviously just "train, train and train some more" to get better results and improve your skills in general. So I do understand that this is what I'll have to do. However, I'm looking for a "better way" of doing it.. Which is why I ask you.
I'm aware of the fact that you could just Google whatever you're looking for and I've been doing that too.. But I'd love some help from you guys!
Do you think you can improve your copywriting skills by writing articles for instance, or do you think you'll have to focus on copywriting alone?
For those of you who don't know what a Copywriter is:
Copywriters (known as continuity writers in broadcasting) are used to help create direct mail pieces, taglines, jingle lyrics, web page content (although if the purpose is not ultimately promotional, its author might prefer to be called a content writer), online ads, e-mail and other Internet content, television or ... Yeah I don't think so really. It's just another name or a label that people have slapped on them. Writing articles from scratch should be paid more for. But copy writing is basically taking something existing and making your own version of it and that's usually much easier to do as you don't have to do much research on the topic you're writing about as it's already there in front of you lol. But a copy writer is just a writer at the end of the day. They're just copying something but putting their own spin on it. That's how I see it. :)

Well like anything in life, the more you do it, the better you'll be at it. When it comes to writing, the more you write, the more you'll learn about writing. I still learn new words myself that I come across every now and then when I'm copywriting stuff. I do a lot of copywriting for ST. It's just about finding something, reading it and taking it in. Then writing your own version of it, only better. With more detail, more emphasis on certain words. Changing words around and swapping them for their alternative words. Stuff like that.
And the only way you can really get better at doing it, is by doing it. Like you've said, more and more, and then some more. These sorts of skills come about from doing and not so much from learning about how you do them. Like they say, wisdom is found at the bottom of the bottle, not what's written on the label.
