    How to make music, beats, samples and rhythms on a shoe-string budget or even for free!?

    Hello all any music heads here? Any new-age music heads in particular? Anyone that makes music in any way, whether using a musical instrument or some digital software, beat making machine or synthesizers or anything like that?

    What's a quick and easy way to make your own music, beats, bars, strings, synths, melodies, chords where rhythm is life and life is rhythm!

    Sorry got a bit carried away there How to make music, beats, samples and rhythms on a shoe-string budget or even for free!?

    But seriously though. I'm probably more looking for free software at this point. I just need something I can make simple beats with really. An actual track you know?

    I used to use FL Studio a while back and followed a bunch of tutes on YouTube and that and started getting into it and even knocked out a few tracks with it. But that was on an old PC and it failed on me and not reinstalled it since in over 5 years! And haven't really got back into it since!

    I've got a bit of an ear for break beat, electro music, deep house, trap music and the like. I'd like to sort of create tracks like that, just jams my homies can ride with lol. But I also know a couple MC's and they're always telling me to find them instrumentals on my phone they can MC to and saying I should make beats they can chat to and that.

    I just like being creative and making something that people like to listen to. Some sick sounding uplifting deep electro house with a twist of rnb funk and soul to it you know!???

    So do you use any beat making software that you can recommend or anything?

    What are you kids using these days for that?

    Oh yeah, is there any good beat making mobile app you use or know of?

    Although I'd prefer something more PC based as it's usually better.

    Fruity loops is still popular these days and people are still making great beats with it. When it comes to making beats though using a drum machine or drum pad is the industry standard way of doing things. What are drum machines? They are square music hardware that has little rubber squares on it. You can upload sounds onto it and assign them to each pad. Im sure you have seen one before and these are the best ways to make music hands down.

    With this thing you can make any genre of beats like EDM, Hip Hop, or any other style of music. You just need a software if you want to be able to mix and master your sound after. If you have windows the industry standard for this type of software is Pro tools. They have the best software and you can use this for recording as well which is really cool.

    Thanks Jkeyz I thought if anyone could point me in the right direction when it comes to this it would be yourself. That Akai MPD 226 looks sweet! I was looking at something similar the other day in my local Cex Exchange window while I was doing a bit of window shopping as it goes! How to make music, beats, samples and rhythms on a shoe-string budget or even for free!?

    I took a couple pictures to add to my wish list lol. I like to print these out and then stick them to my wall near my work station so I can see them when I'm working and know what I'm working for and towards.

    They had this Hercules DJ Control Air Decks and Mixer in as well. It's pretty basic to be fair but got your loops, samples and effects and that and can use MP3 files for it I think.

    I was really obsessed with making music when I was younger, played around with Fruity loops for a while but never managed to make anything stand out. I believe Fruity loops is still the number one software most MCs use to this day, don't know if they have an app for that but they should!

    At the moment I don't listen to electro / house or break beat type music. It really isn't my cup of tea. But I wonder if you record instrument sounds, could one sell those? I think you can find pretty much anything online for free now, but nevertheless, there may be a market out there for music makers, just like there is one for professional photography.

    Thanks for sharing Cristian me lad. Everyone has their own tastes in music and I do like all types of music myself. But I love my intelligent house electro beats and smooth vocals. Especially the chilled stuff. Like TrapNation, ChillNation and the like they produce some amazing stuff but that's only if you like it lol. How to make music, beats, samples and rhythms on a shoe-string budget or even for free!?

    And yeah same, I dabbled in FL studio a while back and even made a few beats. Followed a few tutorials on YouTube and started to get my head round it. Although there was soo so much stuff to click on, dials to twist and twiddle, flanges and peddles and all sorts of filters and things it was quite overwhelming! But that's only because it's so packed with all those different tools and things that makes it the music production tool of choice for so many I guess. And yes an app would be awesome! But I don't know if it could be as comprehensive? I have the Beatwave app on my phone and several others that I sometimes mess around on for a laugh or if I need to make a quick instrumental some of my mates can chat to lol.

    And yes again, you can absolutely sell sounds mate! A lot of people do and that's another reason why I'm keen to learn more about how to do it to make beats, samples and sounds of all kinds you can sell. There is a massive market for that kind of thing and has been for a while. I think we done a post on it before? Or someone asked about it. Otherwise Cristian that is your next mission!     I'd have to recommend FL Studio 12 just because it's what I've been using for the past few years and it's very simple to learn if you are just a beginner. So, I'd recommend this to anyone starting out.

    Even though I already recommended FL Studio, if you're trying to make beats for free, there are websites out there that allow you to create a beat online and save it to your computer.

    My husband creates a minus one for his compositions and he is using an old music maker. I think that software is not a commercial one. But he is able to make accompaniments to his songs although it is not on a professional basis. I have read about Fruity Loop and Cakewalk but we don’t have that. For the finishing or polishing of the arrangement, what my husband uses is the Cubasis which was a gift to him by a cousin.

    Now there are a lot of software that can stimulate sounds, but I don't think it's a good idea to record sound or your own music. You will definitely need an audio interface to get a good sound recording, especially if you plan to use real musical instruments somewhere in the Studio.
