Discussion About Time Limits On Delivered Orders To Be Rated!

Yes friends I have been to busy to visit this forum as often as I should, but I have an idea that might benefit sellers greatly! It seems that it would be beneficial once an order has been delivered to your client, that a time limit should be put on the client to rate the delivery. It seems a little unfair that a buyer can come back and rate you months later after maybe twitter followers, or youtube views have fallen from their sites. These sites change all the time, therefore it is not always the seller's fault if counts go down. I was thinking maybe a 7 day limit for a buyer to rate a seller. Any thoughts on this???

The amount of days a buyer has to rate your service is 31 days. After 31 days, the options disappear for the buyer and they are no longer allowed to rate your service.

This is assuming nothing out of the ordinary happened. For example, if you have an order that was completed but staff reopened it because ou did a lousy job, and then you delivered/completed it again, the 31 day period starts over from the last delivery/completed day.

Also, the buyer has five (5) days to review it and they are allowed to rate it for 31 days from completion. Which means, they could let the review period elapse (5 days) and then have 31 days to rate which equals a total of 36 days.

How do I know all of this? I've been here FOREVER. I'm the 9th user of this awesome marketplace!

Oh wow, so you are like the celebrity of SeoClerks? #9 that is way cool.

That is what I thought also, I wasn't exactly sure but I am a buyer and I am sure I can't go and change any ratings of old orders. I was also sure that SeoClerks would have a safety feature in place for that.

I think the time frame alloyed for kind of rating by the buyer is good enough for anyone that want to rate a seller.

Oh I thought there was a limit of 30 days for buyers to rate a seller on an order? I could be wrong but that's what I thought it was. Or maybe it is a buyer leaving a comment on a service?

Please clarify if you mean a comment or a rating?

Hello cdrocks,
I've just got the official statement regarding this and it should be set at 30 days. If you experience something different you should definitely send a ticket to the support about this so they can investigate it. So a buyer will have 30 days to leave a rating, positive or negative, and in case they don't leave a rating at all during these 30 days they shouldn't be able to leave a rating at all.

Thank you for that clarification has this been intact for awhile then? Reason I ask I saw a couple of months ago a buyer come thru and gave someone close to 7 negative rating's in a row for work that had been completed by the seller. It looked to me like over a period of months but possibly weeks then if this has been the policy for sometime.

I agree that there should be a short time limit. Just as we sellers have a set deadline to deliver, it is important for buyers to give their feedback. This should be encouraged since the sellers deserves ratings and reviews for good work as it will affect his or her reputation. I have had several buyers who allow orders to get auto approved and never bother to rate or leave a comment. For me it means a lot to receive a review for my hard work.

Yes nicely put you nailed the point home with what I was trying to say lol! Yes that is why i was thinking maybe a 7 day window might be more appropriate to protect buyers from any disaster's happening that might not be their fault. My focus for this thread is mainly for social media because these sites can change things overnight or even update things wrongly from time to time leaving a seller with a possible bad review!

30 days is actually decent enough and fair to the buyer and seller. But I have to agree with cdrocks, don't know when this 30 days period feature was implemented but in the past I had buyers coming back after months of inactivity and giving me a negative review, most of them usually contacted me first urging me to do extra work but some just went straight to the review section publishing a negative one.

Don't remember exactly when this happened, I've been on SC for years now, but it definitely happened at some point!

Effective communication with your clients on the time limit of delivering their works is going along in ensuring that they don't give you a bad rating at the end and it is also a means to keep you in check on the time that you're needed to work as well. So, I think you have a point in freelancers discussing the time frame with their clients before starting off work.
