100 Sales Today or 200 Sales During The Next 30 Days?

Hello Freelancers,
I had a discussion with a friend of mine and even though this wasn't really "freelancing" related when we discussed it, I thought I'd ask you this question as our discussion was pretty interesting.

So basically, if you had a service or a product and you could get 100 sales today, with a push of a button. - Would you take it or would you rather have 200 sales in the next 30 days?

I do understand that some might say that they'll take the money today, as some people seem to be interested in short term solutions in general, meanwhile others would never even consider 100 sales today if they knew that they could get 200 sales in the next 30 days. - I wonder what you would do, and why?

Okay, so let me get this right, there's 2 choices and they are; 100 sales today. Or 200 sales over the course of 30 days right? If so, then I would rather take the 200 sales over 30 days hand over fist over the 100 sales in one day. If I went for the 100 sales in one day, I'd look at my earnings, and I'd only end up thinking how I could have double that amount if I just waited for 30 meager days. That would fly by and and I'd be stocked getting sales every day! Just like I'm stoked when I get a new sale on here or anywhere. But if I knew I was going to be getting definitely a minimum of 200 sales, I'd be counting them all down as I got them lol.

Some people might say get all 100 sales today indeed. I guess some people might need the money and that would really help them immediately. But we always need money and we're always spending it. And we all live to our means. To those people I would say wait for 30 days and get 200 sales and build your money up over 30 days. You'll feel a lot better for it at the end of those 30 days and you'll still have your bills, still have a need to spend money on food, clothing, rent, bills and whatever needs you had. Only this time you'd have more money to play with and left over at the end of it all. For me this one's a no brainer! 100 Sales Today or 200 Sales During The Next 30 Days?

I would go with 200 sales during 30 days Mike, just like you. Sure, I've had a rough time these last couple of months so I would definitely need the money from the 100 sales immediately, but I'd rather try to come up with another solution to solve the money situation during the 30 days, until I can cash out the funds from those 200 sales instead. That would be much better, as 200 sales would generate 2 times more in the end.

I think most people would have the same thoughts about this, as you and me Mike, but I truly believe that some people would go with the 100 sales right now instead, just due to the nice feeling of a large chunk of extra dollars in their pockets.

Oh yeah for sure, well most people are like that because most people don't have money saved up but do have a lot of bills to pay at the end of the month and find it hard to save anything when they aren't earning a lot or are spending more in bills and things than they are earning each month. Most of the time it comes down to have better financial management skills. And no impulse buying! Impulse buying or impulsive shopping is one of the biggest bank breakers of them all. You know, sometimes though I can understand it. Like say if there was a nice pair of shoes you wanted but you only had enough money for those shoes and if you get them you might not be able to eat very well for a month until you get paid again. Light lunches at work. Walking/cycling instead of taking the bus. But hey, at least you have a nice pair of shoes you know? Sometimes things like that can help you get through the month with a smile and are worth going without in other ways. But still nobody should really buy things impulsively. But alas, we live in a generation that is in competition with itself. A generation that says hey look the coolest kids are earning millions on Instagram and have all the coolest stuff and to be worth anything in this life you need to be like them. BS! Your worth isn't valued by how much money you have in the bank. But yeah 100 Sales Today or 200 Sales During The Next 30 Days?

For me it really depends on the price on the services that i am doing. If i could have 200 ales today at $1, or if i want 200 services over a period of time for $2 each. I would rather have more money over a period of time rather than a short burst of money and then its done. I do this for a living and if i can i try and squeeze every dollar i can out of every service. Up selling is also something i try and do every chance i get. I love fast cash too but when it comes to paying bills i need longevity. I agree with everyone else i would rather take more sales over a period of time.

I will settle for the 200 sales within 30 days as i will not be under pressure but have enough time to be able to deliver them very well and get good positive feedback response that being under so much pressure to complete everything since they will most likely have the same deadline delivery date. Earning positive feedback reviews that earn good reputation is better than money which comes second.

Give me 200 sales over the next 30 days, or even over the course of the next year. I have no problem with doing work today that will pay off in the future. In fact most of the things that I am concentrating on with my online business are not giving me immediate results but they will give me results in the future and it will be residual income at some stage.

There are too many people going for immediate gratification and this is where people fall short in my opinion. Do things the right way, build a good, solid foundation for your business today and it could pay you for many years to come.

That's a very good point Lynne and I do agree with you, but in reality I'd say that even if most people would agree with you, they still do the opposite. Often due to their situation and due to the fact that quick cash would literally "buy them more time" to come up with the next "solution" to bring more money to the table.

Oh yes people are strange when it comes to money! I know someone that had no job but owned a house so she rented it out for a nice amount of money... she never paid the water because she was short of money, so the result was that the municipality cut off the water to the house! The result is she lost her tenants.

Some people just have no sense at all. My way of thinking would be to get the rent money and ensure that the house is always sorted out first for everything because of it being my only source of income...

Of course I would choose 200 sales over the next 30 days. 100 sales a day it's simply too much for me and sometimes i feel overwhelmed even when I get 5-6 orders. If I would choose 100 sales a day that means I would get a lot of problems and less money in the end of money so yeah i prefer working the whole month for 200 sales rather than a day with 100 sales. But also I would say that really depends on the service that I'm selling, if we're talking about the same price and service then yeah definitely i would choose 200 sales.

Thank you procoder, I appreciate your reply. If we forget about the workload and focus on the money instead. Would you go with 200 orders worth of money in 30 days or 100 orders worth of money today?

I would love to have a lot of orders stretch on as many days as possible, 100 orders seems like a lot, depends on what I'm selling but I'm pretty sure most of us would have problems delivering 100 orders in just a few days so yeah, 200 orders in 30 days would be incredible.

I never think I had that many orders in just one month, not even when I was fully active as a full time freelancer. I always wanted to reach such a performance though.

Thank you for your answer Cristian. Let's forget about the actual work and just focus on the money. Would you rather get the money 100 orders are worth today or would you go with 200 orders worth of money in 30 days?
