The Salaries of Digital Marketers 2016: Making Digital Marketing a Highly Sought Job

The digital marketing industry is an industry that has some of the highest paying jobs and a digital marketing career can be very lucrative for you according to Mondo a digital marketing and technology staffing solutions agency who carried out the research and published an IT Salary Guide 2016 Report on what some of the salaries that people in the digital marketing industry in 2016 are.

The digital marketing industry is a very wide and diverse industry that spans and provides many different types of jobs. Some of them are basic entry level jobs while some of them are very prestigious high paying jobs with very rewarding salaries for those at the top. There are around 53 million people doing freelance work in the US alone making up 34% of the national workforce who contribute an estimated $715 billion in revenue to the US economy alone.

Citation: The demographics of people that buy freelance services.

According to the report, a Chief Technology Officer earns the most money and has the highest paid salary. Even though it's odd that a CTO would even be on the list based on the nature of the work involved with digital marketing don't you think? I mean that's the guy at the top that sees over the people that do the actual work. Although the other jobs would be taken by IT professionals, SEO's / SEM's / SMM's and other digital marketing experts, you should find these amounts very interesting and inspiring if this is an area you're thinking of getting into.

Digital and Interactive

  • Director, Digital Marketing $136,000-189,000
  • Director, E-Commerce $134,000-184,000
  • Director, UI/UX $88,000-159,000

Content Creation & Social Media
  • Director, SEO/SEM $103,000-158,000
  • Manager, SEO/SEM $85,000-126,000
  • Digital Content Strategist $76,000-121,000

Operations
  • Email Marketer $84,000-152,000
  • Big Data Analyst $88,000-134,000
  • Manager, Digital Marcom $94,000-123,000

Creative Services & Production
  • Director, Creative $101,000-178,000
  • Director, Art $73,000-124,000
  • Interactive Designer $73,000-126,000

Those are not bad wages for what aren't particular hard jobs if you're already an expert and can do the things those titles cover. The Salaries of Digital Marketers 2016: Making Digital Marketing a Highly Sought Job And seeing as the demand in 2016 for digital marketing professionals has soared and the Freelance and digital marketing industry is a multi billion dollar industry that is growing at a phenomenal and exponential rate where the demand for such services is very high and strong, it makes sense that these are highly sought jobs!

Especially for those in the automation industry and UI/UX designers and developers. Gianna Scorsone, Vice President of Marketing and Sales Operations for Mondo says "In addition, we have seen new tech-driven marketing positions arise, such as the Chief Technology Officer and Demand Generation Analyst." And there is going to be new job titles created as our infrastructure and the Internet and peoples abilities and needs also grows.

Oh wow those are quite nice salaries hey Mike?

Well I am a blogger so I guess I am a bit of everything aren't I?

I do almost everything myself for all my websites so I guess I would make a nice all rounded employee if someone was looking to employ someone to manage their website and do all their online marketing. But then again I have been working for myself for a very long time so I am not so sure I will handle being told what to do by someone now LOL

Yes indeed Lynne. I hope one day to be a Digital Marketing Director and have a salary like that. Except I'd like mine to be the same number only in £GBP and not $USD as that is only about half as much otherwise lol.

But yeah, same as really. Although sometimes I outsource or hire other people too and I guess those would be the very same people that are on the list of top earners in the digital marketing industry 2016 by far and large.

But I'm sure you'll soon get used to it when you get your paycheck at the end of the month haha The Salaries of Digital Marketers 2016: Making Digital Marketing a Highly Sought Job

Jesus those are some nice numbers you've listed there Mike! Makes me want to emigrate to the US! In fact, I might target some jobs there after I reach 3 years of clear experience at an agency, does freelancing counts as experience? I guess not.
Anyway, I'm not really a manager at the moment but I do am the only SEO my agency haves. Of course, I don't handle only SEO, I also work on big parts of marketing strategies that we have in place for each client.

Thou shalt not take the Lords name in vain Cristian lol.. No yeah you're telling me like I know right! And actually, freelancing does cover some if not all of those roles mentioned here. Because as a freelancer, you may be doing a wide variety of different freelance like jobs for clients that might cover and be some of the same things that those titles mentioned here would be doing anyway. I mean Digital Marketing covers a wide array of different things and as a freelancer you may be indeed doing a lot of Digital Marketing, in one way or another. The Salaries of Digital Marketers 2016: Making Digital Marketing a Highly Sought Job

But it's the Digital Marketing Directors that do the best from all of them. Those that hire a team of digital marketers under them for their business or company and that itself might involve hiring freelancers just like you and I to get whatever job done that's needed to be done that they have sold to one of their clients.

So yeah, it does count although it's not mentioned here. I guess that would be for another article though. How much do freelancers make per year and how? That would depend on what they're doing, how much of it they're doing and how much they're charging for it too I suppose. Thanks for the share Mike. I bet that's why most of the freelancers love to work with people from the US. First of all, due to the language. Almost everyone can read, write and understand English, even if it's just "the basics" so to speak. The second reason you want to work with people from the US is obviously the money.

I've been working online for about 10 years or so, and 50% of that time, as a full time freelancer. And honestly speaking, I think I've had "problems" one or two times, with a client from the US, when it comes to the price I've charged for something. - 99.5% of all the clients from the US have never bothered to ask for a discount. They've never asked for their money back and they've never been disappointed when I tell them to pay $10, $20 or $100 for something. I usually deliver products and services for affordable costs and even though I'm a bit more expensive than my competitors, I've never had any problems. And I guess that is because people from the US are considered "wealthy", which makes them pay the price for whatever they want, and they don't negotiate or ask for discounts as much as people from other parts of the world. - Well, that's how I see things at least.

Cheers Andre you're always welcome! And yeah that makes sense, I find people from different countries like those that could be considered 3rd world countries are the types that usually ask for a discount code where as people from other, more developed countries like the US/UK don't ask for them as much although they still do! lol

I only ever really give them to people if they've purchased x amount of my services before or even once before sometimes. I don't generally just give out discount codes to people if they've never purchased from me before. I always tell them that they can get one if they have already purchased from me but don't give them out if not as I feel it sort of "cheapifies" my service if you know what I mean? And by keeping the price up, people are happy with that as it adds value to that service and as long as you always do a good job for them they are happy with that. That's how I see things like that myself anyway and I'm sure you know what I mean! The Salaries of Digital Marketers 2016: Making Digital Marketing a Highly Sought Job

Cheers!

Mike.

I got blown away with the salaries that you stated because of their big numbers. Maybe my time spent in learning technical matters in this site will be worth it someday when I become an expert in one subject that I can earn such a big salary. As of now that I am a part time freelancer, I am not aiming for that high salary but maybe even a fraction will be enough for my satisfaction.
