Have you ever written and sold eBooks on Amazon?

I have come across so many people claiming that you can make money by writing eBooks and selling them on Amazon.

Ok so I wrote a really short eBook and it took a long time to do and it was just 19 pages long, this was for my online marketing blog to give away to subscribers and not to sell... of course it is packed full of my affiliate links so I wouldn't be able to sell that anyway LOL.

But what I wanted to know is has anyone here successfully written an eBook and sold it on Amazon?

How long should your eBook be and what about getting your work copyrighted?

Has anyone got any advice and tips from personal experience?

I have never written a book but i have sold books on amazon. My wife actually sells both paper and E-books whenever she gets the chance. If you can write a book and sell it bravo, i hope one day my skills are up to that level. One day i can write a book about my life and the struggles i have been in. When it comes to copyright your speaking my language i have so much experience with this by dealing with people in the music industry. The cheapest way to do it is called a "Poor mans copyright" basically you take your copy of your E - book and you send it to yourself in the mail. If you ever have a dispute or someone tried to steal your work you have this post stamped by the post office. Whenever you have your day in court you will open it in front of the judge. Some judges ask for permission on the record and they open it. The other way you could do it is buy hiring a lawyer and making sure its done legally and your 100% covered. Personally i believe both work the same the lawyer will just cost you more. Nice topic!

No matter what, whatever you sell online you should get it copyrighted. There is many thieves that will and do steal other people's work to make a profit. You don't want to get into that mess because you'll then have to create DMCA(Digital Millennium Copyright Act) takedown notices, and send them to whatever website that has the stolen material. This could take quite a bit of time and it's not guaranteed that the website(s) will in fact remove the stolen work. It's always best to copyright things you create.

As for selling things on Amazon like ebooks, i have never done this. However, i did write a short story once and uploaded to a site that sells ebooks but it never sold. I'm not too entirely sure how big the market is for ebooks. Do people read a lot anymore? I don't often see people with books, or reading an ebook.

Everett I read as often as I can... and I am quite sure I am not the only one. I just don't really read eBooks much, I prefer physical books Have you ever written and sold eBooks on Amazon?

I am sorry your eBook didn't sell. Perhaps you didn't market it enough? I have heard from some marketers that you also need to promote your work yourself or you won't get noticed.

What a great question! I have never sold an eBook on Amazon myself. But I know several people that do and I think all of us do! I'm actually in the process of writing an eBook now on something I already sell and am writing a guide that shows and teaches how to do it. It's made up of several parts like table of contents, the actual guide itself, case studies and tips and tricks and a disclaimer and reseller terms etc.

It started off with just the guide at first but have since added in the extra parts as they are very relevant and useful and it's turned into quite a mammoth eBook now that covers the things related to performing the method in a fairly good amount of detail.

One of the thoughts I had was whether it would be "Amazon worthy" and that I could perhaps put it up for sale on there and eBay and of course on here as well which is where it's first getting put up for sale when it's all fully completed.

I'm not too clued up on copyright laws but I always thought if you want to actually © copyright something you had to patent it and register your work with the Patent Office or another similar authority. And unless you actually do that, it's harder to enforce is someone does plagiarize your content and use it for their own commercial reasons. Under International copyright laws you have to have registered your work, content, creations etc with them before you can take someone to court for doing it. Although you can send a DMCA Cease and Desist notice either yourself or through a lawyer.

Another interesting thing to look at (and you might like this Jkeyz) is to use the power of the block chain technology and make use of Blockai to create a digital time stamp on your work before you release it out into the world. That way, if you ever need to, you can prove you're the original owner of it as you can prove it with Blockai.com. Each claim includes a certificate with cryptographic proof recorded on the bitcoin blockchain. Giving you basic copyright protection which can help you remove copyright violations. Blockai is a fast way to prove photography ownership claims on the internet. Clean and novel approach utilizing the blockchain. Pure genius if you ask me!

Sounds very cool. I hope you have more success than I did in the past, which was no success.. LOL. I don't know much about copyright laws either but a lot of the times the © symbol seems to work it's magic and people think that it's actually legitimately copyrighted. Not sure how that would hold up in court though if you were to ever sue someone for copyright infringement.

Thanks for all this information Mike, you brought up something that has come up for me on numerous occasions and my biggest worry. Is my writing good enough? It is Amazon worthy?

It is nice to know that other people have exactly the same concerns as me. I just wonder what goes through the minds of all those rubbish eBook authors when they publish their work and put it up for sale? Do they spend even a moment wondering whether it is good enough or not? Do they know it is rubbish and not care? Or do they believe they have published a gold nugget and they are completely confident in their skills?

Maybe the people that worry so much about the quality of their work are the ones that provide quality?

If you look at some of these shows, like the X Factor you will see that some of the best performers, people with absolutely amazing talent seem so surprised when they make it in the auditions and then you get some people that should never ever attempt singing unless they are in the shower alone and they are shocked when they are told they can't sing.... that is my favorite part of X Factor and all those shows, the auditions LOL.

Hi Lynne Thanks for your asking. I never sell eBook on Amazon even I never purchase too. Normally I used eBook when I am getting free from any sources. So, I have not exact idea to suggestion you to sell eBook on Amazon. But, I saw may writer selling eBook on Amazon and there has many good seller and variety type of books available there. So, I think subject does not matter to sell any book. You can try with any subject. And 19 pages eBook not short. I think you have written worth pages about your subject.

Regards by Ajlancer

Thank you Ajlancer... yeah it was small writing and no long spaces in between for my book, so those 19 pages would be 190 pages the way some people write eBooks LOL.

Ok I will think about writing another one soon, I appreciate the feedback as always.

No I haven't sold any ebook on Amazon, Ebay or any other website because I am not a good story writer. I can write article on different subjects but I never tried to write something that has more than one page.

Until few years ago, I didn't even liked reading that much but that is a different story.

Have you wrote something that is not work related, I mean some small piece of novel, or maybe something for the kids since you are in this niche? I believe that it will blend great with the niche you are writing for.

I'm struggling to write an SEO ebook for ages now! I always need to start again since a lot can change over a few years and nothing I've written 3 years ago is relevant anymore.

I guess I eventually write an ebook, its in my bucket list! The only problem is finding the time and the right motivation. I'm pretty skeptical about its potential success, without a decent marketing campaign I'm sure pretty much nobody will by my damn ebook, I'm just going to be another guy telling people "seo is easy and here is how you do it" .... hmm - maybe I'll go the other way, just to add some shock value.

SEO is not easy and most of you won't make it!

LOL Cristian that might be a great title actually. I think a lot of people are frustrated and not succeeding so it could be a very successful title. Everyone else appears to be going the "easy hacks" route....

I have never written an ebook or any book in general but I have a friend that did and she claim it sold very well. She started with a tumblr site of her weight loss journey, she gained so many followers and achieve both of her goals: lose a lot of pounds and became a succesful blogger. She wrote and ebook on how she lose the pounds and succed with it.

I think selling ebooks on Amazon is possible if you can get the connection in ways that you need to go about it. It is not always easy especially if you have not developed a link with most of the clients there that would convince them to part with their money for your ebook. So, try to get someone already selling ebooks on Amazon to market the books for you.
