    Are you recording your visitors?

    There are some free analytics tools that allows you to record everything what your visitors are doing to your site, I’m sure that most of you know what I’m talking about, for those who don’t , it’s just the same thing as other analytics tools that you use to collect details about : browsers, referrers, screen size, location, ip etc. Of course that everyone can use them, as using those tools can help you to improve your site and know which section is being visited mostly. Now I just wonder if you’re using them, or used them, and did you find them useful for your site?

    To be honest, not as much as I probably should no. Cpanel comes with a lot of tools as standard to help you see things like this. Whether its server logs like Analog stats, Webalizer, Raw access logs, AWstats etc. But I hardly, if ever, check them. I use Google Analytics with most of my sites (the ones I care for). But I hardly ever login to that and check things manually to see which browsers, referrers, screen sizes, locations or social media site is sending the most and from where etc etc. I usually just use StatCounter stats as it gives me access to all of that from the simple dashboard without having to wait a year just for the page to open lol. Using StatCounter I can see most of the important stuff I need to see and know about on the fly from:

    All of which are fairly self-explanatory.

    It does me quite well and gives me more or less all I need to know without having to sign into Analytics which can be slow and cumbersome at the best of times I find! Are you recording your visitors?

    I see Mike and I think you don't need more analytics for your visitors, but I was wondering if you guys have used any of those analytics tools that allows you to video record your visitors, it will record everything what they're doing to your website as long as they are browsing on it, then you just need to click play and watch everything they did there.

    And yeah I'm using mostly GA,and Histats, those are two services that I prefer to use when it comes to analytics.

    I have only ever used Google Analytics before but I don't really look at much except for the amount of traffic and where it came from.

    I would love to have more in-depth reporting so that I can see more details about my visitors, I find that Google Analytics is just not the best for this. The thing I would love to see more of is details about my organic traffic but those visitors it mostly just says that the information is not available.

    I know what you mean Lynne, if you want to see more details about your visitors then you should install one of those analytics tools that does exactly what you need, for example, one of them is called Hotjar, it's called all in one analytics tools as it offer many features such as : heatmaps, visitors recording (those that I'm talking about), funnels, forms, feedbacks,surveys,and recruiters. It can be installed in the same way as GA,also they're offering free and paid version depends on your needs. Free version is limited of course, but it still worth it for its function. I've tried it and yeah it works very nice.

    And btw I'm sure that you'll love the visitors recording feature. I thought you guys are using it, but as I see none of you have used it before. Are you recording your visitors?

    StatCounter still around? I used it before I've switched to Google Analytics and from my point of view GA is the best tool out there for traffic statistics, can really help most SEOs out there to notice certain weak or strong patterns and optimize everything accordingly.

    Heat Analytics is another tool I sometimes use for getting a better picture of how users interact with a website's design and structure.

    Oh yes. I've been using it for many years. Probably well over 12 years now. It's very useful for seeing quick stats about your daily traffic, page views, unique visits etc from a glance without having to mess around logging into Google and then finding your way to that part of G Analytics like a man lost in the jungle at night trying to find his way to the extraction point armed with nothing but a plastic spork.

    The free plan works great for many sites. But if you do get a lot of traffic then it can eat up your log size and only show so much. But you can upgrade from like $5/month. Recently they've added some nice features for helping you improve your websites ranking against your competitors as well using their easy to understand growth plan
    that lets you benchmark your site against your competitors. Seem cool but have not made use it myself yet.

    And yeah heatmaps are incredibly useful. I've used them in the past to see where my visitors were mostly clicking to and then moving Adsense ads to that area. But the can also be used to improve conversions in other things as well. It works and it's as simple as that! Very useful technology!

    I had the impression that Google Analytics was the best, or at least one of the best tools. But from what I read here it seems that it is not that helpful, and there are other tools one can use. Getting such information can be really helpful for site owners, and it is important to look into the results or reports in depth so as to use that data for corrective actions and more informed decision making.

    Actually Google Analytics is the most basic analytics tools if we compare it with some other free tools which are quite more advanced than GA, even though they can't be compared to Google if we refer to their popularity but they still provide you some more valuable information about your visitors than GA does.

    Heatmap analytics is also something very useful to use if you want to know which section and what area is being clicked more, and I don't understand how is possible that Google does not add that feature to actual tools.

    Hi procoder thanks for your question. Yes I record visitors activity for my all website. And I think this is very importance for any webmaster to know who and how a visitors come his site and from where? Thank you can make plan for website how well you done job for. I only used Google analytic as free tools and I do not feel useful other analytic rather than Google analytic. For authentic information and real time report Google analytic is best and effective for research everything. And you can track traffic by many non premium tools but they never give you correct report and it is tested to me.

    Thanks for your reply Aj! I'm using Google analytics too and yeah I admit it works very nice, but It has place for improvements, and of course it has place for some new tools. For example, they does not allow you to track your visitors activity via heatmap, it's Google which is really a BIG name , and still they don't have that feature which is very useful for all webmasters. Now I'm not complaining because at least it is a trusted service.
