My work from anywhere job recommendations - Online Accountant

Most accountants are working for businesses as the main accountant or some work for their own accounting firms and have dozens of small, medium and large clients to do work for. But if you're not the type of person who wants to put on a suit and tie to go crunch some numbers, you can work as an accountant from your couch or while on vacation. All you need is a laptop, accounting certification and a mobile phone.

Entrepreneurs and small business owners don't usually want to drive for an hour to go over everything there is to do with their book keeping. A lot of them would rather phone it in and go over everything fairly quick. If you can build trust with your clients then they may not even call you ever month lol.

Even if your clients don't call you weekly or monthly, you'll need to get in touch with them to let the know what you're doing and how everything is going. Your accounting clients will like that you're taking the initiative to contact them and go over everything about their books. Having a high quality support system in place and focusing on customer service is crucial when being a remote accountant for small, medium and large businesses.

A lot of newer companies in 2016+ want a quick conversation because they are on the go and don't have time to waste. If you can go over everything with them in 20 minutes or less, they will be extremely happy and stick with you. Well, as long as you don't screw anything up

Nice recommendations and good tips Razzy! I'm sure online accountants will find it very useful! This shows once again that the online available jobs categories are way more big than anyone can imagine, not only programmers and designers can work online lots of additional professions like accountants can also find multiple clients to offer their services too.

I guess one would need to get an accounting certification before one could think about doing this. Either that or at the least, have some accounting experience either working as an accountant or for an accountant. Whether in a bank or some other business type.

I've been doing some searching around and found a great PDF on Guide to Certifications for Accounting, Finance and Operations Management. It's a great read for anyone that might be thinking about getting into this as it explains everything that you'll need. What all the abbreviations stand for and everything from public to corporate accounting, banking and financial services, personal finance management to auditing, fraud and risk management. As well as tax, payroll and actually gaining the certifications you'd need.

Hey Razzy, you know I found myself doing freelance bookkeeping and the money wasn't too bad. I just well landed in it.

I started working for my dad when one of his staff members was fired and then the lady that did their creditors walked out so they asked me to help with that too.

Anyway many years later I left my job and my dad asked me to do his books for his farm, then my sister asked me to do her books for her company, and then a friend asked me to do his books..... and so it went on.

I found myself as a freelance bookkeeper. The money was ok but the job sucked. I hated it.

This day and age it is so easy to do bookkeeping with all the accounting software, it is more data capturing than anything else!
