To be an internet marketer, two external factors are very crucial: The cost of getting internet services and the presence of electricity ; these are some of these factors determine how much time you spent on surfing the internet doing researching, delivering SEO orders etc.
But i want to know how regular is the electricity supply to your house is? And also the internet charges from your internet service provider; is it too cheap, moderate or too expensive or just okay.
I somehow know little about these in third-countries like Bangladesh, India, south Africa, Ghana etc since i stay in one of them but i want to hear from those residing in first-world countries like USA, Germany, Britain, russia etc and those residing in 2nd-class countries like cananda, venezuela, belgum, croatia, ireland, greece etc.
How is the electricity situaton? is it adequate or regular or just okay or scarce or nothing at all. Also the cost of internet services,....is it cheap, costly, moderate or even free?

Oh yes everything costs money when you're freelancing. You may already have some things that you need. Such as a computer, Internet connection at home or any tools you already use in your hobby or area of expertise. Like any software you've been using for years already and already have skills and experience in using. You wont have to spend money on taking courses to learn these things. :D
But you may have to sometimes buy a new computer or upgrade your current one. And you may need to purchase other tools or even stationary along the way if you're working in an office for example. If you're working in an office you would probably have to pay the rent for that, as well as pay your rent or mortgage for where you live too. Then of course you need electricity and water and or gas for cooking/heating.
You may need to haven Internet connection either in your home or office in order to do your work online if you mainly work online. So all of these things have to be paid for if you want to continue what you're doing and you need them to actually do it.
Over here in the UK, electricity/gas and water isn't exactly cheap. It's manageable if you have a regular income of sorts. But unless you're pulling in more than you have to spend on these things, you either have to go without them which is not really an option or pay them!
Internet is about the same, it's fairly nominal but still not as cheap as pennies. I think what we pay now will get you about 100 years of the same in about 10 years time when it comes to Internet costs. Eventually, I see access to it being as cheap as just renting a telephone line.
So what do you need bare minimum to survive on as a freelancer?
[list][*][b]A home or office to work in.[/b][/*]Whether you work at home or in an office, you will probably have to pay rent or towards your mortgage.
[*][b]Running water, electricity and/or gas.[/b][/*]You can't really live without these things period let alone be a freelancer without them.
[*][b]A powerful computer/laptop.[/b][/*]It's really a must in todays fast paced multi-tasking world. Slow computers are a time suck.
[*][b]A reliable and affordable Internet connection.[/b][/*]This one goes without saying when choosing an ISP today. Dropped connections means dropped clients.
[*][b]A telephone line.[/b][/*]In some countries you must have a telephone line installed before you can even have broadband (copper wires) (Unless you have cable installed in your area or are upgraded to fibre optic)
[*][b]The tools and skills[/b][/*]You may need some tools to do your clients work such as software tools as well as the skills to use them.

Anything else a bonus? But you will always have to outlay for these bare essential things. But as many a good freelancer will tell you, the rewards to freelancing can offset these costs and more. All due to the demand for freelance services in the world today. :D

I can't wait for the services in our country to improve because at times it becomes physically impossible to work, who can run a business when you don't have electricity for two to four hours in a day The cost to businesses is just insane. Well I am in South Africa which as you know is a third world country. Thankfully the last year (hold thumbs) has been not too bad with electricity but the previous year we had so many electricity cuts that every single day we were without electricity for a few hours. It was ridiculous! The internet well it is okay I suppose, I mean I have internet.. but damn it is slow.
