Have you done any work with anyone using automated programs like SeNuke or any other type of software that blasts backlinks?
If so, that will have a serious effect on your rankings.
Spamming ANYTHING will get you penalized as Google likes quality, not quantity.

Based on what I had learned from the discussions here, there are many ways to increase the ranking in the search engine list. That means there are also many ways to decrease the ranking. When you stop doing the tested SEO methods like putting in fresh contents, going the rounds of the internet to post your backlink, and optimizing your web pages and using the proper keywords, that means your website is stagnating so it has a reason to slide down from the top of the rankings.
