Sure they do! You are using facebook aren't you? Well, it's a free service and basically it's their propriety. Same as SEOclerks, if you are posting services here and off your skills, SEOclerks owns your gig's content and pictures and every data present on this website.

They also have the right to ban you without any real reason whenever the choose to do so, just like facebook.
But if a social network becomes way to authoritarian, history thought us time and again that people will search for a way to be free and will eventually find a better alternative that they think provides more freedom.

This is what will probably happen with Facebook in the future as people will start to value their privacy and Facebook will continue to step on that privacy.

The moment you signed up for Facebook, you had the option to agree with their Terms of Service, Privacy Polices, and their other policies. By continuing with the signup you basically agreed that Facebook will own all of your content. It's not only Facebook that does this, most major websites do the same exact thing. So basically you're forfeiting your rights over to Facebook by posting on their website, in which you agreed to do.

It doesn't matter if you deleted a post, image, video or other content, Facebook still has the rights to it. Also, Facebook never really deletes anything. Once you deactivate your account they still store your account information, including published content.

I think they have the right because before signing up ,one is asked to agree to their terms and conditions and a lot of us don't even read those conditions it is included that they'll store ones personal detail which we accept before signing up. So they do have the right.you don't want that then don't sign up.

Yeah I believe they do. You are using their website for free and whatever you do on it is owned by them.

I've heard lots of people moaning about this and being all worried about it, but really I think every website you go on and share content on owns whatever you do and has rights to that content.

Yes Facebook has all the rights in the world. Well no that's not strictly true. They have some rights. And those rights are dictated in their terms and conditions pages. And when you sign up to Facebook, your signing up is your agreeing to those terms. In those terms they state how they use your details and what they do with them. Although I say "state", it's not really clear just how they use them and what they do with them. They obviously use your data and information for their own internal reasons. But it could be that they're using it for external reasons as well such as providing what you search and type on Facebook, what content you upload to it images, photos, videos, text etc etc. They do have a very comprehensive data use policy which makes for some very informational reading. But not exactly as exhilarating as a good Tom Clancy espionage murder mystery novel. But if you need to know the what and the how, that's where you'll find it.

I cannot say if it is right for them to store our personal files that we chose to upload on their media space. One thing I always fear is the case of leaking of personally sensitive information of users of the social media and the act of people losing their Facebook accounts to hackers. If they can solve that issue of hacking, then I have no problem with having my files stored with them.

I don’t think Facebook is making our data their property. Of course, Facebook can have full access to all of our data like photos and text posts that I believe they can even read our private messages. But that’s the price we pay for a social media network. They let us use their facilities for free, remember that, and we cannot do anything about the privacy in case we have issues. The only rule is join if you want or do not join if you don’t want.

Well we can't do anything about it. Google and Facebook are giants and they can do whatever they want and no amount of complaining can do anything. Having access to all the data of their users is really not illegal. But what they would do to that data is the big question. The problem is we won't know how they are using it.
