Is the response time attributed to order completion time?

My response time was at 20hours-1day for several months. Now lately it has gone up to 4 days. I had quite a shock as i saw this. I honestly respond to messages and order messages within minutes as i get an email and log in immediately. Thus i am thinking that probably it is attributed to completion time, because lately i had to ask for some deadline extensions and since i get batch articles it takes several days to deliver orders. Any help?

I'm not sure but I don't think it is. Your response time is calculated by how fast you respond to anything the buyer does. So if you have already done that, I don't think it matters if your service is late and you have to request more time. It's how fast you respond to anything the buyer does in that order such as when they put the required details to start or even if they just say "thanks" and then you say "welcome" or something. Also I think the comments you have on your service in the description area may count as well but I'm not sure of this.

As for requesting more time. in most cases, unless it's a big order and your buyer has expressed urgency and you have a guarantee then you may just be better off just telling them that it's running late in the order but that it's being worked on and you'll deliver soon. Unless you're going to be about a week late or something. But even then, how late you are delivering an order, and whether you request more time or not. Is not taken into consideration when calculating your response time I think.

It's just all about how fast you update the order itself after the buyer has responded with the required details. Anytime they say or ask anything in that order. And I think the speed at which you leave your rating for the buyer after they have rated you. And possibly how fast you reply/respond to any comments left on your service itself in the comments area.

So if that is correct. And that it's not to do with actual completion time but rather by how fast you update the order itself after the buyer has responded with something in that order. Then it must be something else. Some questions to ask then.
  • Are you updating your orders with a response even if the buyer says something simple like "okay" or "thanks"?
  • Are you quickly rating the buyer for their purchase after they have rated and completed it?
  • Are you responding to any comments on your services in the description area quickly?

Some stuff was posted before to the Community Discussion on reducing your response time which would be worth a mention but you've already seen them and commented in too but I'll put them for the sake of others.

I just don't know why this is happening as I always reply to comments on services within minutes, as well as order updates. I honestly do Is the response time attributed to order completion time?

I think Mike has made some good points here. On my Facebook pages if I reply to an inbox message and then that person says something else in that discussio my response time goes down.

It gets quite silly because I have to respond each time to everything and then it becomes like ping pong.

Someone sense me a message asking a question, so I reply with an answer and then they say thanks, I reply no problem and then they say thanks again... and so it goes on.

Someone I know quite well kept replying back and I had to tell her to please not respond to my messages because I have to keep responding LOL

So maybe this is what is affecting things like Mike suggested. So basically you need to always get the last word in?

LOL so for my orders from now on when you reply to me you can say "last word" and I will know not to reply.

Hi EliteWriter thanks for your question. As per as I know order competition does not effect on response time. Response time only count for order which place from you and buyer may waiting for something reply from you after place of order. Or you response back to the buyer after place order and buyer again reply to you. You may think you replied one time to buyer and second time will not count for response. But if buyer ask any think even rated you and if you do not response, that will marked as out of response. So, my suggestion, you have to response all unread order from manage sell.

I have a question related to this topic: Is the response time also calculated for the inbox PMs?
If yes, maybe that's the problem EliteWriter, maybe you aren't responding fast enough to you PMs.

Maybe one of the buyers took a really long time to respond to your requirements, like a couple of days. What happens with that time where you can't respond because the order is not really active? Does that time count or it only counts after the buyer has submitted the requirements?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

idealmike
No it's not Cristian. Just the order itself. PM's aren't connected to response time. Just the order itself.

And it only counts after the buyer has responded/updated the order with the requirements. If they ordered and took 2-3 days to give the required details, I don't think that time is taken into consideration when calculating your response time.

I'm not 100% sure of that but I think it's only after the buyer does any action in that order.

I always thought PMs are taken into consideration. Glad to know they aren't, I'm always late on answering people's questions via PM, my priority are always my orders.

Yeah that's fair enough. Well sometimes it's good not to answer right away anyway. It gives the impression that you're busy and when people think that it means they think you're busy because you have sales. Which is true anyway but yeah. Don't always reply straight away. Unless it's someone new and you think giving a speedy reply will aid in getting a sale. ;)

Cristian
Well, not really. I always found that if I answer right away to a PM, especially on SEOclerks, I will end up with another client. If I answer after 12 hour or so, the client probably already bought similar services from someone else or doesn't need my help anymore.

Yeah that's what I'm saying. If it's a new client asking you about your service. Sometimes it's good to reply and strike while the iron is hot. But if it's an existing client, sometimes it's good to wait a few moments before replying. I remember reading something about it on a business site once. I'll have to dig it up and make a discussion about it. Is the response time attributed to order completion time?

It seems that it is not related either. I answer private messages very quickly too. So I just cannot understand how come I have ended up with a response time of 4 days if I log in daily, and I make it a point to check the site whenever I am not online, so effectively I never spend more than a maximum of 24 hours to reply.
